Year later and back on Lesvos. We could not miss The Red Beach in Tsonia and that nice restaurant. And again, very good food and stunning views. We spent pretty nice day here. Highly recommendet :-)

Annidata lungo la costa vicino al tranquillo villaggio di Tsonia, nel nord-ovest di Lesbo, la Blue Sea Taverna è il tipo di locale di mare senza pretese che definisce l’autentica esperienza culinaria greca. Con l’Egeo che si estende davanti, la taverna offre un ambiente che attira tanto quanto il cibo stesso: tavoli sbiancati dal sole, il suono delle onde leggere e il ritmo lento di un villaggio che non è ancora stato raggiunto dal turismo di massa. Questo angolo di Lesbo rimane in gran parte fuori dai sentieri battuti, rendendo un pasto qui una vera scoperta piuttosto che una semplice tappa da spuntare su un itinerario turistico. I visitatori possono aspettarsi la cucina onesta e semplice che caratterizza le taverne greche tradizionali: pesce appena pescato grigliato semplicemente con olio d’oliva e limone, mezedes preparati con ingredienti locali, e quel tipo di ospitalità che rende del tutto naturale soffermarsi davanti a una caraffa di vino della casa. La costa nord-occidentale di Lesbo è nota per i suoi paesaggi spettacolari e la ricca biodiversità degli uliveti e della costa circostanti, e la taverna si inserisce perfettamente in questo contesto: informale, generosa e radicata nel territorio. Per i viaggiatori che esplorano i villaggi meno visitati di Lesbo, oltre le destinazioni più conosciute di Molyvos o Petra, la Blue Sea Taverna offre una pausa ristoratrice. È il tipo di posto dove un pranzo veloce può facilmente prolungarsi per tutto il pomeriggio, con il luccichio del mare e il calore dell’autentica accoglienza greca che rendono difficile andarsene.

Cosa aspettarsi
Da Blue Sea Taverna i tavoli sbiaditi dal sole si trovano a pochi passi dall'acqua, con il pesce fresco che arriva in tavola grigliato con olio d'oliva e limone, e i mezedes serviti senza fretta. L'angolo nordoccidentale di Lesbo è rimasto lontano dal turismo di massa, e la taverna ne rispecchia il carattere: informale, generosa, autentica. Un pranzo qui si trasforma facilmente in un pomeriggio.
Periodo migliore
Da fine maggio a settembre per i pasti all'aperto sul mare; agosto è caldo ma il villaggio rimane tranquillo rispetto alle zone più frequentate dell'isola.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si raggiunge Tsonia in circa 40–50 minuti di auto in direzione nordovest lungo la costa.

Quite overrated place, doesn't really deserve 4+ ratings. Food is mediocre, you can find same stuff / quality at almost anywhere in the island. Hygiene is way below average, just take a look at the kitchen and toilets. Right by the beach which is it's best aspect.

Blue Sea Taverna on Tsonia’s red-sand beach dishes food straight from a Greek grandmother’s soul: creamy white beans that redefine comfort, head-on garlic prawns, and charcoal-kissed calamari that melts like butter. The family greets you barefoot, slides over frosty bottles of local beer, and lets the sea air season every bite. Best meal I’ve had anywhere in Greece—worth the ferry detour, extra fuel, and every breadcrumb. Go hungry, stay barefoot, leave spoiled for life!

Really great food here, with a nice view of the sea. We sometimes struggle to find vegetarian food but there is plenty of choice here and everything we had was delicious! The τυροκαφτερι was especially good, as well as the courgette flowers with rice. Highly recommend this place.

Delicious proposals of local and international couzine. Very polite, young waiters and very, very reasonable (low I would say) prices. All these next to the sea under thick shade of trees

This was one of our favourite meals on the island. The food is amazing and fresh. The oil cheese is a local specialty and would recommend.The service was attentive and staff kind and friendly. The area is beautiful and right on the water.

Fresh and really delicious food, good service, friendly atmosphere. We tried grilled sardines, fried calamari and house wine, all of them are superb! Maybe the best tavern in Lesvos. The price are cheaper.
