Was the first beach we visited in Lesvos and it was probably the best. Crystal clear water and it gets deep very smoothly. You will need an umbrella and towels if you want to stay for long.

Immersa lungo la costa vicino al tranquillo villaggio di Agios Stefanos nel nord di Lesbo, Golden Sand Beach è quel tipo di spiaggia che invoglia a trattenersi ben oltre l'orario previsto per la partenza. Il locale prende il nome dalla sabbia calda e fine su cui sorge, un tratto di costa che cattura la luce dell'Egeo in quel particolare tono dorato che ha attirato viaggiatori a Lesbo per secoli. Che si arrivi in auto lungo la tortuosa strada costiera o lo si scopra per caso esplorando i villaggi dell'estremo nord dell'isola, la sensazione di un'accoglienza tranquilla è immediata.
In quanto attività balneare in questo angolo di Lesbo, Golden Sand Beach offre ai visitatori una base da cui godere dell'acqua e del paesaggio circostante senza rinunciare al comfort. Qui si trovano gli elementi essenziali di una ben gestita struttura balneare dell'Egeo: lettini disposti lungo la riva, bevande fresche per tenere a bada il caldo, e quel servizio attento che caratterizza le attività a conduzione familiare in tutta l'isola. L'Egeo settentrionale in questa zona è di solito limpido e calmo, ideale per nuotare e semplicemente galleggiare nel blu con le colline di Lesbo che si stagliano alle spalle.
Ciò che rende piacevole una sosta qui è la combinazione di luogo e ritmo. Agios Stefanos e i suoi dintorni si trovano lontano dai circuiti turistici più affollati che si concentrano intorno a Mitilene o Molyvos, quindi Golden Sand Beach conserva il carattere rilassato della Lesbo autentica piuttosto che l'anonimato patinato di un resort. È un luogo dove rallentare, ordinare qualcosa di fresco, guardare un peschereccio passare all'orizzonte e ricordare perché l'Egeo ha ispirato poeti e vagabondi da tempo immemorabile.

Sabbia fine e dorata, lettini disposti lungo una baia tranquilla e acque del Nord Egeo limpide e calme, ideali per nuotare. L'atmosfera è quella di uno stabilimento a conduzione familiare lontano dai percorsi turistici più battuti, con le colline verdi di Lesbo sullo sfondo.
Periodo migliore
Da giugno a settembre per il bagno; giugno e inizio settembre sono molto più tranquilli rispetto al picco di luglio e agosto.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si prende la strada verso nord in direzione dei villaggi settentrionali di Lesbo; il tragitto fino alla zona di Agios Stefanos richiede circa 40–50 minuti di guida.

There is no sign for the beach, just space on the opposite side of the road to park. I did not believe this beach would be calm when there were big waves splashing further along the coast, it’s a very special place. There were two cats, one black and one black and white at the parking area, we gave them some food and water.

Nice beach with less crowd. A bit far from the Mytilini town but worth to drop by if it is on your way. You leave your car and walk a bit to the beach, not much shades around the beach. The sea is shallow but sandy. I like its wilderness.

Gorgeous sandy beach. You can easily park the car on the parking place or along the road, go through the gate and walk down for a few minutes to the beach. Along the edge you will find spots with shade. Beautiful clear water, nice to spot some fish and great for a swim. Water shoes are not needed here.

Normally I would put five stars but in summer it gets so crowded that it becomes a nightmare When it’s empty in autumn it becomes one of the most beautiful beaches of the island

Excellent beach with clear water and stunning colors. No services provided, full sun in the morning hours, then a bit of natural shadow. The gate that gives access to the path leading to the beach is now open, with a 30cm high bar preventing entry for motorbikes, but otherwise no difficulty to enter. Visited in the middle of August and there may have been some 30 people in total on the beach, so really not crowded!

Known in the island for it's exceptionally cyan waters; it is a nice remote beach with sallow water that is perfect for kids. Some natural shade especially in the afternoon hours. No facilities nearby so it's a relatively quiet place for sunbathing and swimming.

Very small and beautiful beach. It is not organized. The people who go there do not care because they leave trash. There is no free access. You have to jump a paddock and walk 150 meters to find yourself on a small, crowded beach. Funny ! Brochures and publications make her the most beautiful of Lesvos. Very doubtful.

Great beach, almost always with calm weather, access through light gravel road. Must bring your own food/water.
