Was the first beach we visited in Lesvos and it was probably the best. Crystal clear water and it gets deep very smoothly. You will need an umbrella and towels if you want to stay for long.

Verscholen langs de kustlijn nabij het rustige dorp Agios Stefanos in het noorden van Lesbos is Golden Sand Beach het soort plek aan zee dat u het gevoel geeft langer te willen blijven dan u van plan was. Of u nu per auto aankomt via de kronkelende kustweg of het ontdekt terwijl u de dorpen in het noorden van het eiland verkent, het gevoel van een ongehaaste ontvangst is onmiddellijk aanwezig.
Als strandgelegenheid in deze uithoek van Lesbos biedt Golden Sand Beach bezoekers een uitvalsbasis van waaruit zij kunnen genieten van het water en het omringende landschap, zonder aan comfort in te boeten. U kunt rekenen op de basiselementen van een goed gerunde Egeïsche strandonderneming: ligstoelen langs het strand opgesteld, verfrissingen om de hitte te trotseren, en de attente bediening die kenmerkend is voor familieondernemingen verspreid over het hele eiland. De noordelijke Egeïsche Zee is hier doorgaans helder en kalm, waardoor het uitstekend geschikt is om te zwemmen of gewoon in het blauwe water te drijven terwijl de heuvels van Lesbos achter u oprijzen.
Wat een bezoek hier de moeite waard maakt, is de combinatie van plek en tempo. Agios Stefanos en de omgeving liggen ver van de drukbezochte toeristische circuits die zich concentreren rond Mytilene of Molyvos, waardoor Golden Sand Beach het ontspannen karakter behoudt van het authentieke Lesbos in plaats van de gepolijste anonimiteit van een resort. Het is een plek om het rustig aan te doen, iets kouds te bestellen, een vissersboot aan de horizon te zien voorbijvaren en te herinneren waarom de Egeïsche Zee al zolang als iemand zich kan herinneren dichters en reizigers heeft geïnspireerd.

Wat u kunt verwachten
Fijn goudkleurig zand, ligstoelen langs een rustige baai en helder Egeïsch water dat uitnodigt om te zwemmen. De sfeer is ontspannen en lokaal, ver weg van de drukke toeristische circuits, met de groene heuvels van Lesbos als decor achter de zee.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Juni tot september is het zwemseizoen; begin juni en begin september zijn merkbaar rustiger dan de drukte van juli en augustus.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini rijdt u noordwaarts richting de dorpen van het noorden van Lesbos; de rit naar de omgeving van Agios Stefanos duurt ongeveer 40 tot 50 minuten.

There is no sign for the beach, just space on the opposite side of the road to park. I did not believe this beach would be calm when there were big waves splashing further along the coast, it’s a very special place. There were two cats, one black and one black and white at the parking area, we gave them some food and water.

Nice beach with less crowd. A bit far from the Mytilini town but worth to drop by if it is on your way. You leave your car and walk a bit to the beach, not much shades around the beach. The sea is shallow but sandy. I like its wilderness.

Gorgeous sandy beach. You can easily park the car on the parking place or along the road, go through the gate and walk down for a few minutes to the beach. Along the edge you will find spots with shade. Beautiful clear water, nice to spot some fish and great for a swim. Water shoes are not needed here.

Normally I would put five stars but in summer it gets so crowded that it becomes a nightmare When it’s empty in autumn it becomes one of the most beautiful beaches of the island

Excellent beach with clear water and stunning colors. No services provided, full sun in the morning hours, then a bit of natural shadow. The gate that gives access to the path leading to the beach is now open, with a 30cm high bar preventing entry for motorbikes, but otherwise no difficulty to enter. Visited in the middle of August and there may have been some 30 people in total on the beach, so really not crowded!

Known in the island for it's exceptionally cyan waters; it is a nice remote beach with sallow water that is perfect for kids. Some natural shade especially in the afternoon hours. No facilities nearby so it's a relatively quiet place for sunbathing and swimming.

Very small and beautiful beach. It is not organized. The people who go there do not care because they leave trash. There is no free access. You have to jump a paddock and walk 150 meters to find yourself on a small, crowded beach. Funny ! Brochures and publications make her the most beautiful of Lesvos. Very doubtful.

Great beach, almost always with calm weather, access through light gravel road. Must bring your own food/water.
