Incastonata tra le verdi colline vicino al tranquillo villaggio di Aspropotamos, la Cascata di Man Katsa è una delle più gratificanti scoperte naturali di Lesbo. Si trova nel lussureggiante paesaggio dell’interno, che sorprende molti visitatori che si aspettano dall’isola solo la costa. Il terreno circostante è alimentato da ruscelli stagionali che attraversano uliveti e vegetazione fitta, creando un fresco rifugio ombreggiato che offre un piacevole contrasto con le coste egee baciate dal sole. La cascata stessa attira coloro che apprezzano Lesbo oltre le sue spiagge, offrendo un assaggio del volto più selvaggio e verde dell’isola.

Cosa aspettarsi
Il suono dell'acqua precede la cascata stessa — una conca fresca e ombreggiata incastonata tra uliveti e vegetazione fitta, lontana dai circuiti costieri più frequentati. I visitatori che si spingono fin qui trovano silenzio, ombra e la faccia più selvatica e verde di Lesbo.
Periodo migliore
La primavera (aprile–maggio) è il momento migliore, quando i torrenti stagionali scorrono abbondanti e le colline circostanti sono nel pieno del loro verde.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene, percorrendo le strade di campagna tortuose verso il nord interno dell'isola, si raggiunge il villaggio di Aspropotamos in circa 45–55 minuti. Un'auto è praticamente indispensabile per arrivare al sito.

An easy hiking of 200 meters or 1 km if you park next to the street. Dog friendly. Try to be there during Spring time after 3 to get the sunlight and may see a rainbow!

You can take the dirt road up and after a few minutes you will find a parking place. Go through the gate and with a really nice well signed 10 minute walk and going down some steps you will reach the waterfall. We went there 9th of June and there was only a sprinkle of water still coming down (so be aware it might be dry soon), but nonetheless we really enjoyed the beautiful place, the turtles, dragon flies, lizards and we spotted a little snake in the cave. We definitely recommend going here!

In January 2025 it was full and beautiful! The walk in is fairly easy until the end where there are very steep rock steps. There is a railing but this is probably dangerous for the very young or very old.

Beautiful location, only 30 km from Mytilini. The waterfall is easy to find. Just follow the signs, there are plenty of them. I recommend parking your car by the main road and walk the last 1500 m because the dirt road is in really bad condition. It's also a pleasant walk with nice views of the countryside. When you arrive at the waterfall you'll have to make your way down on a pretty steep path. It's not really suitable for younger children or elderly. Well worth a visit.
