Immerso nella quieta campagna vicino al villaggio di Alyfada, Papoutsi Varvara Ododiatreio offre a camminatori e amanti della natura la possibilità di esplorare alcuni dei paesaggi meno battuti della parte orientale di Lesbo. Il nome stesso ha un carattere spiccatamente locale, il tipo di luogo che ha guadagnato la propria identità attraverso generazioni di paesani che conoscono a memoria ogni sentiero e ogni affioramento roccioso. I percorsi Ododiatreio di Lesbo si inseriscono in una più ampia tradizione di sentieri segnalati che si snodano attraverso il variegato terreno dell’isola, collegando uliveti, antichi muri in pietra e vedute che si estendono verso il Mar Egeo e la sagoma lontana della costa turca. I visitatori che fanno tappa qui possono aspettarsi quel tipo di esperienza autentica e senza fretta della campagna di Lesbo che il turismo organizzato raramente regala. Il paesaggio attorno ad Alyfada è plasmato da secoli di agricoltura e vita pastorale, e una passeggiata lungo questo percorso rivela terrazzamenti in pietra a secco, erbe selvatiche che profumano l’aria e la particolare quiete che scende sull’interno dell’isola nel tardo pomeriggio. Che siate un escursionista appassionato o semplicemente desideriate lasciare la strada principale e sentire l’isola sotto i vostri piedi, questa deviazione è gratificante. Lesbo ha attratto a lungo viaggiatori interessati alla bellezza naturale e alla profondità culturale, e percorsi come Papoutsi Varvara fanno parte di ciò che rende l’isola memorabile oltre le sue famose spiagge e la foresta pietrificata. Arrivare con buone scarpe da cammino, un po’ d’acqua e la volontà di rallentare è tutta la preparazione che serve per apprezzare ciò che questo angolo di Lesbo ha conservato silenziosamente per tanto tempo.

Cosa aspettarsi
Il sentiero si snoda tra oliveti terrazzati e antichi muretti a secco, con profumi di timo selvatico e salvia sotto i piedi e ampi panorami verso la costa turca. La soddisfazione sta nei dettagli più che nella distanza percorsa, quindi vale la pena camminare lentamente e fermarsi spesso. Nel tardo pomeriggio scende sull'entroterra dell'isola un silenzio profondo, interrotto soltanto dal vento.
Periodo migliore
Da aprile a giugno e da settembre a ottobre le condizioni per camminare sono ideali; il caldo del mezzogiorno estivo rende l'escursione faticosa.
Come arrivare
Il percorso si trova a pochi minuti di auto da Mitilene, in direzione del villaggio di Alyfada sul versante orientale di Lesbo, a circa un quarto d'ora dal centro città.

Initially, she was 1.5 hours late from our appointment time. I went to get 2 fillings which cost me 100€ each. Unjustified price for the service provided. I will definitely not use her again, and I would recommend the same to you.

Varvara is an excellent scientist, with deep knowledge in her field, with love for her work and people. She is professional and at the same time, lovable, and very sweet, she explains the steps she follows, and creates a feeling of trust and security in you! Working with her is pleasant, and has nothing to do with the stereotypical visit to the dentist! Of course, Aphrodite, Varvara's assistant, is also very sweet and helpful!

She is excellent at her job. She tells me what to do and then I decide, which is something you appreciate because the previous dentist I went to did whatever she wanted without telling me what she was doing and as a result I ruined a good tooth and luckily I found Barbara and she fixed it for me and since then I only go to her because I know her work is worth it. They are both very pleasant girls, you feel comfortable with them😊
