Genesteld in de rustige oostelijke gebieden van Lesbos, nabij het rustige dorp Chliara, bieden de Aumkara Apartments and Studios een vredige uitvalsbasis voor reizigers die op zoek zijn naar een authentiek toevluchtsoord, weg van de platgetreden toeristenpaden. Dit deel van het eiland wordt gekenmerkt door glooiende heuvels, olijfboomgaarden en de onthaaste ritmes van het traditionele Griekse plattelandsleven, waardoor het een ideale setting is voor wie wil vertragen en in eigen tempo de natuurlijke schoonheid van het eiland in zich wil opnemen. De zelfverzorgingsappartementen en -studio's bieden gasten de onafhankelijkheid en flexibiliteit die een vakantie op Lesbos echt loont. Met uw eigen plek om naar terug te keren na een dag vol ontdekkingen, kunt u de nabijgelegen kust bezoeken, naar de middeleeuwse hoofdstad van het eiland, Mytilini, trekken of de reis naar het versteende woud in het westen ondernemen — en dat alles zonder de beperkingen van hotelschema's. Het omringende landschap nodigt uit tot ochtendwandelingen door de naar olijven geurende velden en rustige avonden kijken naar het verschuivende licht boven de Egeïsche Zee. Voor bezoekers die onderdompeling verkiezen boven resortcomfort, vertegenwoordigt Aumkara precies het soort ingetogen accommodatie dat het eiland zelf centraal laat staan. Verblijven bij Aumkara betekent meegaan in het ritme van een olijvenlandschap: stille ochtenden, een vage klokkentoon van een heuvel verderop, en avonden zonder agenda. De zelfcateringformule is perfect voor wie Lesbos als uitvalsbasis wil gebruiken en op eigen tempo wil rondreizen.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Laat voorjaar (mei–juni) en september zijn ideaal; juli en augustus kunnen in dit westelijke binnenland erg heet zijn.
Hoe er te komen
Chliara ligt in het westen van Lesbos, ruwweg een uur of langer rijden van Mytilini afhankelijk van de gekozen route; een huurauto is in dit deel van het eiland vrijwel onmisbaar.

What a lovely place! Located just a few metres from the beach, this accommodation is perfect for tranquility and relaxation. The apartments were immaculately clean and comfortable. Stunning terrace on the rooftop where we enjoyed reading and napping 😊 Maria and Sofia are welcoming and so very friendly. Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Couldn't ask for more from the landlady and even if it wasn't a upscale apartment, we had a nice bottle of greek white wine, a bottle of water and 2 cheese butties in the fridge on our arrival, Maria dealt with the transfers and the taxi driver even if he had not a perfect English, we were informed of all the villages and the touristic places that we were passing by. Maria was the lady managing the apartment and straight away she offer us some of the herbs and vegetables that they have in pots outside. A thing to remember just turn the air con when you leave for dinner cos it really does the job. Thanks

Aumkara Apartments are excellent. Maria is a wonderful host. The rooms are spacious, clean and REALLY close to the beach and nightlife but far enough away so you get a decent nights sleep! Lovely roof top terrace, balconies and peaceful gardens all add to the attraction of the apartments. A book exchange available as well as wifi. Great value for money

So happy with my accommodation, not only are the apartments immaculately clean,we'll proportioned, and a stone's throw from the sea, the owners George and valia are on hand to make your stay a memorable one. Everyone effort is made to make you feel welcome, and one of the family. I would happily recommend this accommodation to anyone wanting the personal touch, a true home from home!
