I went 3 nights in a row since I loved the food and the atmosphere. My last night in Lesvos I chose another place to try different options and I deeply regret it. I would not miss the opportunity to get real traditional Greek food again!
We had lovely dinner with Greek dishes. Cozy atmosphere, reasonable prices, polite staff and wonderful surroundings.

Verscholen nabij de rustige kustnederzetting Alyfada aan de oostkust van Lesbos, is Diavlos Mezedopoleio een traditionele Griekse taverne die de relaxte geest van de eetcultuur van het eiland belichaamt. Een mezedopoleio is een typisch Griekse instelling — ergens tussen een tapasbar en een buurttavern in — waar de nadruk ligt op gedeelde kleine gerechten, koude karaffen ouzo of lokale wijn, en lange, rustige maaltijden die tot laat in de avond duren. Bij Diavlos put het menu uit het trotse culinaire erfgoed van Lesbos, een eiland dat in heel Griekenland bekendstaat om de kwaliteit van zijn olijven, olijfolie, kazen en sardientjes. Bezoekers kunnen eerlijke, ongekunstelde gerechten verwachten die degenen belonen die de gebaande toeristische paden verlaten: borden met lokale kazen, gezouten vleeswaren, gevulde groenten, vers gegrilde zeevruchten en de beroemde ouzohapjes van het eiland, mezedes genaamd. De sfeer is gezellig en ontspannen, het soort plek waar de lokale bevolking na het werk samenkomt en families aan tafel blijven plakken. De ligging nabij Alyfada, een klein en grotendeels onbedorven stukje kust van Lesbos, voegt een gevoel van ontdekking toe aan het bezoek — dit is geen plek waar u toevallig op stuit, maar een waar u naar op zoek gaat. Voor reizigers die de rustigere hoekjes van Lesbos verkennen, voorbij de hoofdstad Mytilene of de bekendere badplaatsen, biedt Diavlos een echt lokale ervaring. Het is het soort taverne dat u eraan herinnert waarom de Griekse eetcultuur zo gevierd wordt — niet om grootse gebaren, maar om eenvoudige ingrediënten die met zorg worden behandeld, genereus worden gedeeld en langzaam worden genoten in goed gezelschap.

Het ritueel bij Diavlos is ronde na ronde mezedes bestellen — sardientjes, gerijpte eilandkazen, gevulde wijnbladeren — bij een kan koude ouzo of lokale wijn, terwijl niemand op de klok let. De gasten zijn overwegend locals en het tempo is oprecht ontspannen; een tafel voor twee rekt zich moeiteloos uit over drie uur.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Van eind lente tot vroeg herfst is het het aangenaamst; zomeravonden zijn levendig, terwijl mei en september aangenaam rustig en koel zijn.
Hoe er te komen
Diavlos ligt aan de oostelijke waterkant van Mytilini zelf, op loopafstand of een paar minuten per taxi van de veerhaven.

Food was delicious The owner is very friendly and pleasant. Don’t miss the octopus and the courgette flower. And the pastrami pie a blast Order ouzo samaras or white wine from Lemnos Of course everything is seasonal so for winter there was no sardines which is my favourite dish on the island

It was really surprising to eat one the best Hunkar Begendi I have ever tasted in a Greek tavern. Service was great, waitress was really professional. Restaurant was well decorated. Only negative feature is the street which doesn't have airflow but this is a regular issue in the center.

I think this is one of the best tavernas in Mytilene and I have been here for a month. In the picture are the dolmades and the Aubergine in the oven. Both are great. The service is slow but friendly (like most greek places) and not all staff speaks English, but they have an English menu.

It is the best taverna in the center. The food is delicious and fresh. Service is also good. The owners are lovely and they give you advices to choose if you are not familiar with Greek cuisine. The other tavernas in the center doesn’t offer anything better. I have tried some other places too. So if you are in the mytillini center don’t waste time and directly go there.

We visited this place on Christmas day. despite the hectic day the service was quick and the waiter was friendly and polite. the food was really tasty, we especially liked the baked feta cheese with honey and the meat dish called lepidia.

Really friendly service and nice food again. Are there Any bad played in this country?? Comfy afhmosfere. Small street and many more bars. If you visit the capital walk through this romantic streets.

The best fried squid with fresh fries as a side are found here. The food is simply delicious at this taverna. The owner is very nice and welcoming.
