We have been in that authentic hotel for five days in July. You feel like you are in a fairy tale. The room we stayed has two bedrooms and the view of the pool. It’s always clean. The staff has hospitality and make you feel comfortable.
Just the most beautiful hotel. All the staff were very welcoming. I recommend the garden rooms if you want total peace away from the music of the bar and pool. Will definitely choose this hotel again.

Gelegen aan de rand van Vareia, een dorpje op een korte rit ten zuiden van Mytilene, herbergt het Loriet Hotel een prachtig gerestaureerde neoklassieke villa die zachtjes spreekt over het welvarende laat-Ottomaanse verleden van Lesbos. De architectuur weerspiegelt de verfijnde smaak van de kooplieden en olijfoliehandelaren van het eiland, wier imposante landgoederen ooit de vruchtbare kustvlakten tussen de hoofdstad en de Golf van Gera omzoomden. Een verblijf hier brengt gasten in een van de meest cultureel gelaagde hoeken van het eiland, op korte afstand van het Theophilos Museum en het Teriade Museum, die samen een buitengewone verzameling werken herbergen van de geliefde naïeve schilder Theophilos en een opmerkelijke galerie van prenten en originelen van Picasso, Matisse, Chagall en Léger.
Het hotel biedt een intieme, ongehaaste sfeer die het onderscheidt van grotere resortaccommodaties. Kamers en suites zijn met zorg ingericht, waarbij historisch karakter en comfort harmonieus samengaan, en de omringende tuinen vormen een rustgevend toevluchtsoord na dagen vol eilandverkenning. De ontbijten dragen de smaken van de Egeïsche Zee — lokale kazen, olijven, honing en seizoensproducten — en verankeren gasten in het ritme van het eiland voordat zij op pad gaan. De zeezichten naar de Turkse kust en het zachte licht dat al decennialang kunstenaars en schrijvers naar Lesbos trekt, maken zelfs een middag op het terras tot een echte ontdekking.

Bij aankomst in het Loriet stapt u als het ware een andere tijd binnen — het gerestaureerde neoclassicistische herenhuis met zijn stenen gevel en luiken ligt omringd door tuinen die de buitenwereld op gepaste afstand houden. Op het terras ontbijten met lokale kaas, olijven en honing, terwijl u uitkijkt over de zee richting de Turkse kust, is een rustig begin van elke dag. De musea van Theophilos en Teriade liggen op korte afstand en zijn gemakkelijk te bereiken voor een cultureel uitstapje.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Half april tot oktober is het meest geschikt voor de meeste bezoekers; juli en augustus zijn warm maar de dikke muren en het groene park houden het aangenaam.
Hoe er te komen
Vareia ligt ongeveer 3–4 km ten zuiden van Mytilini langs de kustweg — een ritje van ongeveer tien minuten vanuit de haven.

My stay at Loriet Hotel unfortunately did not meet my expectations. I paid over €75 for a single person in a room located in the back area of the hotel (not the main building), and this was outside of the high season. The room I received did not fully match the photos online, which felt misleading. The main building serves only as reception; guests are then sent to newer buildings in the backyard. Upon arrival, I was asked to pay at the entrance without prior notice that there had been an issue charging my card. This was a surprise and required me to double-check my bank account afterward to ensure no error had occurred. Check-in also felt somewhat disorganized. I was traveling with others, and the hotel chose to upgrade one of us without consultation or explanation — a decision that affected the fairness of our experience. The quality of the room and sleep comfort was below expectations. The hotel is also quite far from the city center, so be prepared to spend around €19 per day on taxi rides. That said, I appreciated a few positive aspects. The gardens of the Loriet Hotel are truly beautiful, and the location of the hotel in Lesbos is generally peaceful and scenic. Suggestions for improvement: • Better communication before arrival (e.g., payment issues, hot water availability. I had issues with hot water and the reception did not puck up the call). • A more welcoming and organized reception, especially when multiple guests arrive together. • Transparent and respectful handling of room upgrades — ideally, ask the guest if they would like the upgrade and explain the difference. • Improved responsiveness to calls from the rooms, especially for those staying in more remote parts of the hotel. With some improvements in guest communication and room quality, this hotel has the potential to offer a much better experience. Great hotel but there are couple of things that needs improvement. The breakfast can be better. They can add more meze type dishes and some savory pastry options, even a greek salad option would be really nice. The mattress in the room are is way too hard and stiff and I had to stretch my back each morning, the sleep was not comfortable.

I saw a cockroach in the room at night and I have a phobia. I went down to the reception and there was no one. They had locked the doors of the hotel and left us stranded. I didn't sleep at the reception until the morning and no one came. I didn't sleep until the morning. How can they lock the doors? It's against human rights. It's now 6:30 in the morning and there's still no one there and the doors are clicking.

Stayed four nights recently in one of the buildings having a front porch. The room was nice and comfortable, one negative thing I can say there was bathroom mold on the floor, so it makes the bathroom look a bit dirty. Breakfast was same for each morning and reasonable. The staff was helpful and friendly. Special thanks to Bleona for helping us finding the best restaurants and made reservations for us. Check out gift was also very kind and made us feel special. The hotel is close to the center, as I rent a car to see different regions it was not an important criteria for me tough.

👙🌴😑 They have a ridiculous rules like you can’t get in to the pool before 12 pm!! It’s the worst time to be outside and to be in the pool because of the extreme heat and the sunlights are the most dangerous between 11 am to 3 pm. It’s not recommended to be under sun during these times at summer. Yet this hotel doesn’t have a direct access to the sea it makes it even more unreasonable for their rule. If we could have gone to the sea we can skip the pool until the time they let you in. If you have kids impatient to get in the pool, I don’t recommend this place because we relied on the pool when we decided to book this place. 🍳 I read a lot of good reviews about breakfast of this place. Don’t get me wrong, it’s not bad but it was nothing special. We love their carrot cake the most. 🧽 The rooms are spacious but there are a lot of stains on the bathroom floor, and that makes you feel like it’s dirty even though it was clean. 🍟The snack bar is also not so strong in the pool. 🍺 Most things have reasonable price but the beers are pricey in my opinion. You pay $6.5 for 330ml beer. 🚕 Transportation is easy the taxi cost 5 Euro + 2 fee to call to the hotel. 🐣 Family friendly hotel (except the pool situation 🥲🙄)

Breakfast consists of various products. Pastry, jam and other desserts were delicious. The room where breakfast was served was very authentic and enjoyable. The historical texture of the mansion where you stay is preserved. It is a very peaceful, quiet and pleasant facility. Since we stayed in the attic, we could see the sky through a small window. The receptionist was calm and did his job well. Check in and check out was quick. It would be beneficial to pay more attention to general cleaning rules. The coffees were weak in taste. I would have preferred the eggs to be warm and not overcooked.
