Lesbos est l'une des grandes îles oléicoles de la Méditerranée, abritant des millions d'oliviers — certains plusieurs fois centenaires — dont les frondaisons argentées couvrent les collines qui s'étendent vers l'intérieur depuis la côte sud. Dans ce paysage de bosquets anciens et de pentes en terrasses, le moulin à huile biologique Eirini Plomariou perpétue une tradition qui a façonné l'identité et l'économie de l'île depuis des générations. Exploité selon des pratiques biologiques certifiées, le moulin presse les olives sans intrants synthétiques, honorant à la fois la terre et l'intégrité du fruit, et produit une huile d'olive extra vierge qui reflète le caractère particulier du sol et du climat de la région de Plomari.
Les visiteurs qui font le court trajet en voiture jusqu'à Ano Chorio trouveront ici l'occasion de comprendre l'huile d'olive non pas comme un produit de supermarché, mais comme un produit artisanal ancré dans son terroir. Le moulin offre une fenêtre sur le processus de pressurage, depuis le moment où les olives arrivent après la récolte jusqu'à l'huile vert doré qui en émerge — dense, herbacée et poivrée, comme l'est souvent l'huile fraîche et de haute qualité de Lesbos. Selon la saison, les hôtes peuvent assister au moulin en pleine activité pendant les mois de récolte d'automne et d'hiver, lorsque l'air porte le parfum légèrement fruité des olives fraîchement pressées et que les rythmes de travail semblent inchangés depuis un siècle.

À quoi s'attendre
Le moulin fonctionne comme une véritable exploitation agricole, sans mise en scène touristique — c'est précisément ce qui en fait l'intérêt. Vous pouvez y suivre l'ensemble du processus des olives brutes jusqu'à l'huile finale, goûter une huile extra vierge biologique fraîchement pressée et repartir avec une bouteille dont vous avez personnellement observé l'origine.
Quand y aller
D'octobre à février, pendant la récolte, les pressoirs sont en marche et l'expérience est à son plus authentique ; en dehors de cette période, les achats et les dégustations restent possibles.
Comment s'y rendre
Depuis Mytilène, prenez la direction du sud vers Plomari, puis montez jusqu'à Ano Chorio — comptez environ 40 à 50 minutes de route sinueuse à travers les oliveraies du sud de Lesbos.

Dear Myrta & family 💚 thank you so much for an amazing evening in your olive paradise…. It was so interesting to hear all the stories and to see and feel your passion for what you do. Also the food was so amazing and with regards to the olive oil I will start eat one spoon each day and think of all the pure and amazing benefits Mother Nature and your hard work is contained in the oil. We arrived last night, not as part of a planned tour. The place is simply wonderful! Olive oil of the highest quality. And we are olive oil lovers. The young Irini, the daughter of the owners, welcomed us warmly. She gave us a professional private tour. She added us to the group that came for the tasting. Before we left, her lovely mother insisted that we take a homemade pastry with us. What a warm and wonderful family. And the best oil in the world!

We heard that there is an excellent olive oil here. We only came to buy olive oil, and the lovely Erini (the owner's daughter) welcomed us warmly and patiently explained the process of making the oil. We tasted bruschetta with olive oil and oregano. We bought excellent wine, honey, olive oil soap and even dried oregano. The place is very special, with a beautiful view and the people are warm and inviting. We will definitely go back there again and arrange dinner in front of the view.

A fantastic evening! We had a nice walk among the olive trees up in the mountains above Plomari, just before sunset, smelling the herbs, tasting the fantastic oil, and learning about the process of making organic olive oil The evening ended with the most delicious dinner we have had for twenty years on this island, homemade with love and Irini organic olive oil. Highly recomended!
