Nichée près du tranquille village d'Alyfada, L'Ouzothérapie affiche sa philosophie jusque dans son nom : à Lesbos, l'ouzo n'est pas seulement une boisson, mais une forme de thérapie, un rituel de ralentissement que l'île a perfectionné au fil des générations. Lesbos est la principale île productrice d'ouzo de Grèce, abritant des distilleries légendaires qui fabriquent cet alcool parfumé à l'anis depuis bien plus d'un siècle, et un lieu comme celui-ci embrasse pleinement cette fière identité locale. Le nom est un clin d'œil complice à tous ceux qui se sont déjà assis à une table en bord de mer, ont regardé la lumière de l'après-midi se teinter d'or, et ont ressenti cette aisance particulière qui accompagne un verre d'ouzo frais et une assiette de mezedes.
Ce que les visiteurs trouvent ici, c'est une expérience authentique du mézédopoleio grec, enracinée dans les traditions de l'Égée orientale. La cuisine s'appuie sur la cuisine honnête et généreuse de Lesbos : poissons et fruits de mer grillés pêchés localement, taramosalata salé, poulpe tendre, sardines locales marinées, et une feta qui ne ressemble guère à ce que la plupart des voyageurs ont goûté ailleurs. L'ouzo arrive avec les petits plats selon un rythme qui incite à s'attarder, à la conversation, et à la dissolution progressive de tout agenda pressant. L'atmosphère est sans prétention et conviviale, le genre d'endroit où habitants et visiteurs finissent par partager une table à la fin de l'après-midi.
Pour ceux qui explorent les recoins plus calmes et moins fréquentés de l'intérieur de l'île et de la côte nord, un arrêt à L'Ouzothérapie offre quelque chose de véritablement réparateur. Cela capture l'essence de l'hospitalité lesbienne : nourriture abondante, alcool fort, et un accueil tout en lenteur qui semble faire contrepoint aux bandes de stations balnéaires plus animées ailleurs sur l'île. Venez affamé, venez avec du temps devant vous, et laissez la thérapie faire son œuvre.

Le rythme ici est celui de l'ouzo : les petites assiettes arrivent par vagues successives, la conversation se dénoue, et l'après-midi glisse vers le soir sans que l'on s'en aperçoive. L'ambiance est franche et sans chichis, propice aux rencontres spontanées entre habitués et visiteurs de passage.
Quand y aller
Le printemps et l'automne offrent les conditions les plus agréables pour une longue session en terrasse ; les soirées d'été sont également séduisantes, bien que la salle se remplisse rapidement après le coucher du soleil.

Situé en plein cœur de Mytilène, l'établissement se rejoint à pied depuis le port et le front de mer — aucun véhicule n'est nécessaire.

My friend and I visited Ouzotharapia during a winter weekend in Mytilene while on a study tour based in Athens - and it was unforgettable. It was so good we came back the very next day. The grilled calamari was especially outstanding; incredibly fresh and perfectly cooked. We couldn’t decide what to order, so we chose multiple seafood dishes and sides to share, and every single plate was exceptional. The setting is simple and charming, with a handwritten menu and bouzouki music playing softly in the background. The staff were warm and welcoming, and the whole place felt relaxed and homely. We shared a bottle of ouzo, and the total cost was only a fraction of what we’d pay in Australia for seafood that wouldn’t come close to this quality. I truly can’t overstate how special this meal was - it may well have been the best of my life. If you’re visiting Lesbos, do yourself a favour and go. <3

Not worth it, small portions and expensive for what you get, the most average meal I’ve had in Greece so far. This ‘seasonal’ salad was €4 and just old lettuce with onion. Only reason it’s not a 1 star is the service guy was a nice fella.

One of the best tavernas in Mytilene, Lesvos. Very authentic and very friendly. We prefer seafood and it was delicious as well as ouzo. Highly recommended to everybody

Very good service with nice hospitality and delicious food. It’s also nice to see that they made a list of the items in Turkish so it’s easier for us to order :) But it looks like a place mainly local people go for a nice dinner. And I can’t skip without mentioning the music… There was nice rebetiko playlist on the background and it gave a full Greek dinner experience. Thank you, I’ll come back on my next Mytilini visit!

There is no menu with prices. Also they asked us if we will pay cash or card. If you pay card you have to pay immediately, if cash you can pay at the end of dinner. We found it strange. Anyway the grilled calamari portion was small but it was delicious. We even went again the next day to try the grilled octopus and that was delicious too.

Wonderful, fresh and authentic food, great hospitality! Giannis is the best host ever. Whatever he suggested us was delicious, marinated sardines were heavenly, grilled calamari was perfectly cooked. And he could not let us leave that olive oil on the plate, gave us two slices of bread and said: eat, eat, it won’t do you any harm :)) The goat milk ice-cream at the end was the cherry on the top! I suggest this place with all my heart and stomach!

I loved the restaurant . The owner is a fantastic person, and amazing cook. If you love meat it’s the place to be. Everything is local , the tomatoes , cucumbers and courgettes are to die for. The lamb and sheep are from local farmers .. don’t miss it if you are in Lesbos. I recommend the staffed vine leaves and fried courgettes. Lamb chops are a must too. Every Wednesday , Thursday and Friday in summer time they have live with local music that are amazing with a great ambiance

Great little tavern just outside Mytilini. Good music, food and atmosphere. Went on a Saturday night, and socialized and danced with local and international patrons. Very fun and memorable, would go again.
