Petra è rinomata per il suo singolare punto di riferimento, la chiesa di Glykofiloussa arroccata in modo spettacolare su uno sperone roccioso che si erge solitario dalla piazza del villaggio, e la posizione dell’hotel permette agli ospiti di raggiungere facilmente questo luogo iconico così come la lunga spiaggia sabbiosa che ha reso Petra una meta prediletta per chi cerca un’alternativa più tranquilla e autentica alle zone balneari più affollate dell’isola.
Soggiornare all’Ilion Hotel significa immergersi nel ritmo lento di un tradizionale villaggio lesbio, dove i kafeneia costeggiano il lungomare e le taverne locali servono pesce fresco e specialità regionali. I dintorni invitano all’esplorazione, con il borgo medievale di Molyvos a breve distanza in auto lungo la costa, le sorgenti termali di Eftalou nelle vicinanze, e i vasti oliveti e gli aspri paesaggi vulcanici dell’interno che attirano gli escursionisti. Che arriviate nei mesi più freschi per percorrere i sentieri e scoprire l’avifauna per cui l’isola è celebrata a livello internazionale, o in estate per godervi il sole dell’Egeo e le calde acque blu, l’Ilion Hotel rappresenta un rifugio confortevole e situato in posizione strategica.

Cosa aspettarsi
Svegliarsi a pochi passi dalla lunga spiaggia sabbiosa di Petra, con la chiesa di Glykofiloussa arroccata sulla sua rupe che domina la piazza del paese, restituisce subito il carattere di questo angolo di Lesbo. Le giornate scorrono tra il mare, i kafeneion sul lungomare e brevi gite verso i vicoli medievali di Molyvos o le terme di Eftalou.
Periodo migliore
Da giugno a settembre per il bagno; maggio e ottobre sono ideali per escursioni e birdwatching, con poca folla e una luce particolarmente morbida.
Come arrivare
Petra dista circa 50 minuti di auto da Mitilene percorrendo la strada che attraversa gli uliveti dell'isola in direzione nord-ovest.

We just arrived and everything is fantastic. The hotel is very beautiful, the staff is very friendly and everything is clean and tidy. We arrived earlier than we expected we had a complimentary coffee and breakfast while we were waiting to check in. The hotel is right Infront of the the sea, the view from the room is marvellous and the aeria has many restaurants, coffee places and small shops. The view of the church is breathtaking!! I totally suggest this hotel for vacation!!

The owners are very kind and helpful, honestly I can't say that enough, it felt like I was staying with family. The location is perfect, right in front of the beach with plenty of delicious restaurants all around. The hotel breakfast is also really good. Definitely worth the money.

During many years we have stayed here numerous times, and it was lovely to stay here again after two years of Covid. This is the perfect place for us, with the location practically on the beach and in the centre of Petra. Good and spacious rooms with great views. Good breakfast and affordable prices. And as the icing on the cake, the very friendly owners Leonidas, Maro and uncle Kimon, who are very kind and helpful and who always have time for a good chat.

Good location within the town but the building is very old, low quality. Service was good, nothing impressive. The sea was very wavy, not good for families with little kids at all.
