We walked up mid siesta on a Wednesday and they nicely allowed us to dine. Had a few small plates and all were very tasty and fresh for a reasonable price. Highly recommend!! Thank you for the hospitality.

To Frikton Lathos, il cui nome si traduce con ironico umorismo come 'Il Terribile Errore', è quel tipo di luogo che si svela lentamente, il genere di scoperta che rimane nella memoria molto dopo aver lasciato Lesbo alle spalle. Incastonato nella vivace capitale Mitilene, dove la vita sociale dell’isola pulsa con più vibrante energia, questo locale trasuda quell’autoironia che i Greci sanno esprimere così bene, un nome che suscita curiosità e segnala immediatamente che chi lo ha aperto ha senso dell’umorismo e una genuina personalità dietro il bancone.

Il nome scherzoso dice subito tutto: un locale dalla personalità autentica, dove i residenti si attardano ben oltre il primo drink e le conversazioni prendono vita propria. Situato nel cuore di Mitilene, è la sosta ideale dopo una passeggiata sul lungomare per lasciarsi trascinare dal ritmo tranquillo della città.
Periodo migliore
Aperto tutto l'anno come locale cittadino; le serate dalla primavera all'autunno sono le più vivaci, con i tavoli occupati fino a tardi.
Come arrivare
To Frikton Lathos si trova nel pieno centro di Mitilene, a pochi minuti a piedi dal porto e dalla piazza principale — se ci si trova già in città, non serve alcun mezzo di trasporto.

Well this place has changed since the last beautiful reviews it had gottwn. I was tempted to come here based on the reviews and because they had mousaka on the menu. However, peeking at the lonely alleyway the day before I was hesitant. Next day I decided to try again and it had some local old men sitting there and music playing — seemed like a good sign. A sweet woman with voice very very hoarse from smoking sat me down and asked if I wanted to see the menu. To my disappointment they did not have mousaka that day and only half of the menu was available. I opted for meatballs I had anyway wanted to try and a greek salad. There I sat, waiting for my food amongst about 10 ouzo-drinking old men. There was something charming in this ambience and yet also something missing, something off… When my food arrived it very much reminded of school lunches or of a meal at a friend’s grandma’s house (because a grandma of one’s own cooks always better, doesn’t she?!) There were no olives in my salad and the meatballs rather watery… Not how I had expected to spend my last meal in Mytilini… Yet the people were sweet and I hope they will do better. Perhaps it was just the timing being off-season. If you want simple food by true people you could try this place. However, check if it has any other tables occupied — chances are the food will be better on such day.

Slightly hidden place in a side alley off Ermou that is popular with the locals. Great food and great location. We have been there twice and all of the dishes we were served were delicious! Ask what is available, there are always dishes that are not on the menu (English is no problem). Very, reasonable prices, especially for the quality - for 5 small dishes, water, bread and wine we paid less than 35€. Will surely come again!

Food was nice but portion was small. I tried sardine, chicken fillet and saganaki. Restaurant is street Restaurant, tables and chairs are at street like other Restaurants in Mytilini.

Good food but completely local experience regarding service. Is just an alley corner with some old tables. Nice people, just feels like you walked into a random persons yard asking for food rather than a restaurant

Off the main track, food was nice. Small cod fishes were really nice, service friendly.

In a very friendly atmosphere, they took orders and then cooked the meals. The food was delicious, especially the appetizers. My favorite was 'Imam Bayildi'. I also recommend trying the fish.

Delicious food, the man is lovely and very friendly. The portions are huge the prices very very good. We had 3 starters, 2 mains, wine, soda, watermelon for after and all under €30. The restaurant is very authentic Greek. Easy to find up a side alley.
