We walked up mid siesta on a Wednesday and they nicely allowed us to dine. Had a few small plates and all were very tasty and fresh for a reasonable price. Highly recommend!! Thank you for the hospitality.

To Frikton Lathos, wiens naam met een droge humor vertaald kan worden als 'De Verschrikkelijke Vergissing', is het soort plek dat zich langzaam openbaart, het soort ontdekking dat in de herinnering blijft hangen lang nadat u Lesbos achter u hebt gelaten. Verscholen in de bruisende hoofdstad Mytilini, waar het sociale leven van het eiland op zijn levendigst pulseert, draagt deze zaak de zelfspot die Grieken zo goed beheersen, een naam die nieuwsgierigheid opwekt en meteen aangeeft dat degene die de deuren opende een gevoel voor humor en een oprechte persoonlijkheid achter de toonbank heeft.
Mytilini is een stad gebouwd om te zitten en te genieten, een plek waar de boulevard langs het water en de kronkelende straatjes van de oude stad u uitnodigen tot een ritme van koffie in de ochtend en ouzo wanneer het avondlicht een gouden gloed over de haven werpt. De naam geeft meteen de toon aan — een plek met échte persoonlijkheid, waar locals blijven hangen lang nadat het eerste drankje op is en het gesprek zijn eigen gang gaat. Centraal gelegen in Mytilini, ideaal om even aan te wippen na een wandeling langs de haven en uzelf over te geven aan het rustige stadsleven.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Het hele jaar open als stadslocatie; de avonden van voorjaar tot herfst zijn het levendigst, met volle tafels tot laat in de nacht.
Hoe er te komen
To Frikton Lathos ligt midden in het centrum van Mytilini, op een paar minuten lopen van de haven en het centrale plein — als u al in de stad verblijft, hebt u geen auto nodig.

Well this place has changed since the last beautiful reviews it had gottwn. I was tempted to come here based on the reviews and because they had mousaka on the menu. However, peeking at the lonely alleyway the day before I was hesitant. Next day I decided to try again and it had some local old men sitting there and music playing — seemed like a good sign. A sweet woman with voice very very hoarse from smoking sat me down and asked if I wanted to see the menu. To my disappointment they did not have mousaka that day and only half of the menu was available. I opted for meatballs I had anyway wanted to try and a greek salad. There I sat, waiting for my food amongst about 10 ouzo-drinking old men. There was something charming in this ambience and yet also something missing, something off… When my food arrived it very much reminded of school lunches or of a meal at a friend’s grandma’s house (because a grandma of one’s own cooks always better, doesn’t she?!) There were no olives in my salad and the meatballs rather watery… Not how I had expected to spend my last meal in Mytilini… Yet the people were sweet and I hope they will do better. Perhaps it was just the timing being off-season. If you want simple food by true people you could try this place. However, check if it has any other tables occupied — chances are the food will be better on such day.

Slightly hidden place in a side alley off Ermou that is popular with the locals. Great food and great location. We have been there twice and all of the dishes we were served were delicious! Ask what is available, there are always dishes that are not on the menu (English is no problem). Very, reasonable prices, especially for the quality - for 5 small dishes, water, bread and wine we paid less than 35€. Will surely come again!

Food was nice but portion was small. I tried sardine, chicken fillet and saganaki. Restaurant is street Restaurant, tables and chairs are at street like other Restaurants in Mytilini.

Good food but completely local experience regarding service. Is just an alley corner with some old tables. Nice people, just feels like you walked into a random persons yard asking for food rather than a restaurant

Off the main track, food was nice. Small cod fishes were really nice, service friendly.

In a very friendly atmosphere, they took orders and then cooked the meals. The food was delicious, especially the appetizers. My favorite was 'Imam Bayildi'. I also recommend trying the fish.

Delicious food, the man is lovely and very friendly. The portions are huge the prices very very good. We had 3 starters, 2 mains, wine, soda, watermelon for after and all under €30. The restaurant is very authentic Greek. Easy to find up a side alley.
