Nascosto vicino al tranquillo villaggio di Alyfada, nel verdeggiante nord di Lesbo, Zacharoplasteio Padazi è il tipo di pasticceria di quartiere che è il fulcro della vita dei villaggi greci. Uno zacharoplasteio è molto più di un panificio — è un’istituzione sociale, un luogo dove gli abitanti si soffermano su un caffè greco denso e sui pettegolezzi del giorno, e dove i ritmi delle stagioni sono scanditi dai dolci esposti. Aspettatevi il tipo di dolci artigianali che hanno definito la pasticceria greca per generazioni: bougatsa sfogliata ripiena di crema calda, loukoumades condite con miele e sesamo, e vassoi di baklava e kataifi imbevuti di sciroppo che catturano la luce del mattino. Per i visitatori che esplorano i villaggi più tranquilli, lontano da Mitilene e dalle località turistiche, una sosta al Padazi offre qualcosa che non può essere confezionato né replicato in un caffè turistico — un incontro genuino e senza fretta con l’ospitalità quotidiana di Lesbo. Cosa aspettarsi
La vetrina dice tutto: bougatsa ancora calda alla crema, loukoumades lucidi di miele e sesamo, vassoi di baklava e kataifi disposti con cura. Gli abituali si fermano come si mette una virgola nella giornata — un caffè, un dolce, due parole col bancone. Siediti un po' e il ritmo del quartiere comincia a farsi sentire.

Aperto tutto l'anno; la mattina è il momento migliore per i dolci freschi e il rito del caffè.

Pantazis guarantee! The most delicious sweets! This year I ordered my birthday cake from there and once again both I and my guests were shocked by how delicious the cake was. Vanilla-strawberry filling, chocolate sponge cake, heart shape and pink whipped cream colors! Magic!

Unfortunately I did not have a good experience I will not upload a photo of the cake as it was a special order and I prefer to remain anonymous. I had ordered a small cake with a biscuit flavor. The filling did not resemble a biscuit at all! It was simple cream and not even tasty. Also the cake was not small! Without asking, they made it regular to large and I paid almost €35 for it. Their excuse was that the design I requested could not be made in a small round one which I would have accepted IF I HAD BEEN ASKED. The cake was not for me so I was exposed to the celebrant and the guests since it was my initiative to go to this particular store. In terms of appearance, it was remarkable. I am writing this comment purely out of disappointment.

Perfect place for traditional sweets of the island. Rodinia and almond cakes stand out. Kind people. Prices have remained stable for years. Worth the visit.
