Delicious, fairly priced food and friendly staff! We had the gyros wrap, Spanish tortilla, freedom cake, and beetroot chocolate cake. All delicious and clearly homemade. Only here for a week but will definitely return.

Food by AJ, ook bekend als Lettuce Cafe, is een plantaardige eetgelegenheid verscholen in Skala Eresou, het charmante kustdorpje aan de zuidwestkust van Lesbos. In een plaats die bekendstaat om zijn relaxte, open sfeer en lange dagen aan zee, biedt dit veganistische restaurant een welkom alternatief voor de traditionele mezze en gegrilde vis van het eiland. Gasten kunnen rekenen op verse, zorgvuldig bereide gerechten op basis van groenten, peulvruchten en onbewerkte ingrediënten — het soort eten dat goed voelt na een lange ochtend op het kiezel- en zandstrand van Skala Eresou.
Het café past vanzelfsprekend in het ontspannen ritme van het dorp en trekt gezondheidsbewuste reizigers, overwinteraars en iedereen die nieuwsgierig is naar plantaardige varianten van mediterrane smaken. Wat u kunt verwachten
Een ontspannen plantaardige eetgelegenheid in Skala Eresou waar het menu draait om verse seizoensingrediënten — kleurrijke bowls, peulvruchtengerechten en mediterrane smaken op een bewuste manier bereid. Het tempo is hier net zo rustig als het dorp zelf, en de sfeer is uitnodigend voor langdurige bezoekers en iedereen die iets anders zoekt dan de traditionele Griekse keuken.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Voornamelijk open tijdens het zomerseizoen; juni en september zijn aangenaam warm met minder drukte dan in augustus.
Hoe er te komen
Skala Eresou ligt aan de zuidwestkust van Lesbos, ongeveer anderhalf uur rijden van Mytilini via Kalloni. Het café bevindt zich op loopafstand van het strand.

I am not vegetarian but this was my favorite post breakfast caffè in Skala Eressos. Very tasty, fresh, healthy and well priced. If I had stayed longer (after trying a couple of the more traditional tavernas/fish restaurants) this would have become my daily canteen!! LOVED it!

I can’t even begin to describe AJ’s place! The quality of the food, the atmosphere and the service are nothing short of stunning. It felt like a home away from home but with way better food than my home and I do seriously try 😅🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️

I am not someone who follows a plant-based diet, but AJ’s food completely won me over. We ended up going there every single day for both lunch and dinner! I love how everything is so fresh and that she’s building it all from the ground up with care and passion. My absolute favourite is the protein burger with the mixed salads – and the best part? The salads change daily, so you are constantly discovering new favourites and flavours. Very big appreciation for everything AJ is doing – it’s truly inspiring and I look forward to come back more times.

A must visit restaurant for all who enjoy healthy and tasty food! All made with love and care with fresh ingredients. I am not a vegan myself but I was delighted! The sweets are amazing btw, both chocholate tart and bounty bars. The atmosphere is very friendly, the place itself cosy and colorful, prices very affordable. A hidden gem by all criteria!

One of the best places I've been to and the best vegan food I ever tried. The food is really, really incredible! All the ingredients are fresh and wonderfully cooked with a lot of love and knowledge. The house wine and local beers are awesome, the atmosphere is very friendly and service is outstanding! I go back there at any given chance and consider it my "special place". The prices are way too good for the quality you get. Amazing!
