A little gem of a cafe in Sigri. So welcoming after the long drive from Molyvos. The view of the sea from the cafe is lovely. So peaceful. Next to a small beach. Lovely cold water on a hot day was so nice. The nearby castle was closed. The petrified forest and its museum are nearby.

Veranta Cafe Snack Bar is een informele eetgelegenheid vlak bij Sigri, een rustig vissersdorpje aan de uiterste westkust van Lesbos. Gelegen aan de rand van deze ongestoorde hoek van het eiland, biedt het precies het soort ontspannen verfrissingshalte die perfect past bij het levenstempo van Sigri — een plek waar middagen lang uitrekken en de Egeïsche horizon eindeloos lijkt.
Gasten kunnen genieten van de typische geneugten van een Grieks café-snackbar: vers gezette koffie, koude dranken, lichte hapjes en snelle maaltijden voor hongerige bezoekers die de omgeving verkennen. Of u nu net een bezoek heeft gebracht aan het nabijgelegen Natuurhistorisch Museum van het Versteende Woud van Lesbos te Sigri of terugkeert van een zwempartij op een van de westelijke stranden, een stop hier biedt welkome schaduw en versnaperingen. Wat u kunt verwachten
Op het beschaduwde terras in Sigri kunt u tot rust komen na een bezoek aan het Natuurhistorisch Museum van het Versteend Woud of een zwemtocht langs de westelijke stranden. De kaart biedt wat u van een Griekse koffiebar mag verwachten — frappe, geroosterde broodjes, koude drankjes — en wordt zonder haast geserveerd. Dankzij de rustige sfeer van het dorp voelt een kop koffie hier als een echte pauze, ver van de drukte van de bekendere badplaatsen.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Eind mei tot en met september is het ideale seizoen; in augustus biedt het schaduwrijke terras welkome verkoeling tijdens de heetste uren.
Hoe er te komen
Sigri ligt aan de uiterste westkust van Lesbos, ongeveer anderhalf uur rijden van Mytilini via de doorgaande weg door Kalloni en Andissa.

Rude. My 6 year old daughter was desperate to go for a poo. I asked if he could use the toilet. The lady told me it’s for customers and I said I’d be happy to order, no problem. But she said we’d have to order and pay first before he can use the toilet. Mind you he’s desperate and 6 years old! Shame on her. And yes, it’s a small business that I would have been happy to support but not like this when they show no human decency to a small child. Shame.

Coming in we were rather disconcertingly asked by a vsibly annoyed waitress what our intentions were..... she then proceeded to ignore us in the most ostentatious way. When we tried to just buy the food and leave she literally kicked our kids out. Overall she acted as if she did not want us there. The whole thing would have been comical if not the time we wasted. I have never, in my 47 years of existence, experienced a worse form of "service." Avoid at all costs.

Nice location but rude service. The moment we came we asked for the menu and the lady told us that we couldn’t see the menu and then leave. And we asked why is that. She responded that she thought we would go to the toilet and leave. This suspicious behaviour is not welcoming but rather rude and offensive.

The worst service we have ever seen in our lives, the slightly overweight, middle-aged waitress with pink earrings had incredibly ridiculous attitudes, she seemed annoyed that we came, she told us that we had to order as soon as we sat down without even looking at the menu, we said we were not ready. When we moved our chair because the sun was coming, she scolded us. Don't go, it's terrible. If you want to be scolded, go.

According to the staff, Veranta has open from May till October, depending on the weather. This friendly café has a perfect location at the town beach in quiet surroundings. We have during the years only had ice creams and drinks like tea and coffee here, but people have crepes, club sandwiches with wine and beer and much more. Without Veranta Sigri would not be the same.

View over the beach is great but unless you speak Greek you're made to feel unwelcome. Very rude and we were frowned upon all 3 visits. Tried to put a smile on the girls face every time but alas I was met with dirty looks. Glad we won't be back.
