Veranta Cafe Snack Bar
Visitors say
A nice and cozy cafeteria to enjoy a cold coffee while contemplating the mystical summer sunset of Sigri. Veranta also offers breakfast choices to kickstart the day.
A little gem of a cafe in Sigri. So welcoming after the long drive from Molyvos. The view of the sea from the cafe is lovely. So peaceful. Next to a small beach. Lovely cold water on a hot day was so nice. The nearby castle was closed. The petrified forest and its museum are nearby.
About
Veranta Cafe Snack Bar is a casual dining spot located near Sigri, a quiet fishing village on the far western coast of Lesvos. Sitting at the edge of this unhurried corner of the island, it offers the kind of relaxed refreshment stop that perfectly matches the pace of life in Sigri itself — a place where afternoons stretch long and the Aegean horizon feels boundless.
Guests can expect the typical pleasures of a Greek cafe-snack bar: freshly made coffee, cold drinks, light bites, and quick meals suited to hungry visitors exploring the area. Whether you have just come from the nearby Sigri Natural History Museum of the Lesvos Petrified Forest or are returning from a swim at one of the western beaches, a stop here offers welcome shade and sustenance. The veranda setting implied by its name suggests outdoor seating, making it an ideal spot to linger over a coffee while taking in the surroundings.
For travelers venturing to this less-visited part of Lesvos, places like Veranta fill an important role — they are the informal gathering points where locals and visitors alike pause, refuel, and exchange a few words. Sigri sees fewer crowds than the island's better-known resorts, and that quietness lends any meal or coffee here a genuinely unhurried quality that is increasingly rare in Mediterranean tourism.
Before you go
What to expect
Shaded outdoor seats face the slow rhythms of Sigri's waterfront, making this the natural place to decompress after a morning at the Petrified Forest museum or a swim at the western beaches. The menu is classic Greek cafe fare — freddos, frappes, toasted sandwiches, and cold drinks — served without fuss by people who know the village well. Sigri's small size means the cafe functions less like a tourist stop and more like the village's living room, where a chance conversation with a local is entirely normal.
Best time to visit
Late May through September is ideal; August afternoons can be hot, so the shaded veranda earns its keep then.
How to get there
Sigri sits at the far western end of Lesvos, roughly an hour and a half by car from Mytilene via the cross-island road through Kalloni and Andissa.

Rude. My 6 year old daughter was desperate to go for a poo. I asked if he could use the toilet. The lady told me it’s for customers and I said I’d be happy to order, no problem. But she said we’d have to order and pay first before he can use the toilet. Mind you he’s desperate and 6 years old! Shame on her. And yes, it’s a small business that I would have been happy to support but not like this when they show no human decency to a small child. Shame.

Coming in we were rather disconcertingly asked by a vsibly annoyed waitress what our intentions were..... she then proceeded to ignore us in the most ostentatious way. When we tried to just buy the food and leave she literally kicked our kids out. Overall she acted as if she did not want us there. The whole thing would have been comical if not the time we wasted. I have never, in my 47 years of existence, experienced a worse form of "service." Avoid at all costs.

Nice location but rude service. The moment we came we asked for the menu and the lady told us that we couldn’t see the menu and then leave. And we asked why is that. She responded that she thought we would go to the toilet and leave. This suspicious behaviour is not welcoming but rather rude and offensive.

The worst service we have ever seen in our lives, the slightly overweight, middle-aged waitress with pink earrings had incredibly ridiculous attitudes, she seemed annoyed that we came, she told us that we had to order as soon as we sat down without even looking at the menu, we said we were not ready. When we moved our chair because the sun was coming, she scolded us. Don't go, it's terrible. If you want to be scolded, go.

According to the staff, Veranta has open from May till October, depending on the weather. This friendly café has a perfect location at the town beach in quiet surroundings. We have during the years only had ice creams and drinks like tea and coffee here, but people have crepes, club sandwiches with wine and beer and much more. Without Veranta Sigri would not be the same.

View over the beach is great but unless you speak Greek you're made to feel unwelcome. Very rude and we were frowned upon all 3 visits. Tried to put a smile on the girls face every time but alas I was met with dirty looks. Glad we won't be back.
