Gelegen aan de zonovergoten oevers van Vatera, een van de langste en meest gevierde stranden van de Egeïsche Zee, is Maistrelis Dimitrios Golden Beach een gastvrije tussenstop voor bezoekers die de spectaculaire zuidkust van Lesbos verkennen. Het fijne gouden zand van Vatera strekt zich uit over bijna acht kilometer langs een beschutte baai en trekt reizigers die op zoek zijn naar een rustiger, meer authentiek alternatief voor de drukke Griekse badplaatsen. Het warme, ondiepe water en het indrukwekkende decor van met olijfbomen begroeide heuvels maken dit hoekje van het eiland bijzonder geliefd bij wie Lesbos op zijn meest onthaaste wil beleven.
Maistrelis Dimitrios speelt in op het volledige ritme van een dag aan het strand, met een gastvrijheid die oprecht lokaal aanvoelt in plaats van massaproductie. Of u nu neerstrijkt na een ochtendzwem, op zoek bent naar verkoeling in de middagzon, of gewoon even pauzeert tijdens een rit langs de zuidkust — het etablissement biedt u een comfortabele uitvalsbasis om de omringende natuur in u op te nemen. Wat u kunt verwachten
Het strand van Vatera strekt zich over bijna acht kilometer uit en is aan weerszijden vrijwel verlaten, met ondiep, warm water en door olijfbomen begroeide heuvels op de achtergrond. Bij Maistrelis Dimitrios geniet u zonder haast van een ligstoel en een verkoelende drank, in een sfeer die nog echt lokaal aanvoelt en ver afstaat van drukke badplaatsen. De nabijgelegen Kaap Agios Fokas, bekend om paleontologische vondsten, geeft een verrassend historisch tintje aan dit kustbezoek.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Het zwemseizoen loopt van mei tot oktober; in juli en augustus is het het drukst en 's middags erg warm.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini rijdt u zuidwaarts via Polichnitos naar Vatera — een rit van ongeveer 50 tot 60 minuten over een kronkelige binnenlandse weg die uitkomt op de baai.

In Vatera we were lucky enough to be hosted during the first ten days of August by two genuine, wonderful people. Dimitris and Maria are not only ideal hosts, but also excellent ambassadors of lesbian hospitality. The room was spotlessly clean, with hot water and air-conditioning, while it had everything necessary to function as a base for excursions, on an island that attracts you from all sides. It was literally 20 meters from the beach, one of the best on the island. Very close to the room there is a bakery, mini market, restaurants and beach bars, so we didn't miss anything. In conclusion, this particular accommodation is ideal for families who want to spend their holidays on the island, outside the so-called "touristy" places. Dimitris and Maria, thank you from the bottom of our hearts. See you again!

Wonderful room, clean, bright, with all the comforts. Amazing view, starring the vast blue. The beach two steps from the courtyard of the accommodation. They hosted our children from Germany for a three-day stay and they went crazy. Thank you Maria and Dimitris. May our Panagia grant you all the best 🙏😍🥰

The accommodation is in an excellent location right in front of the sea. The rooms are large and very clean but need renovation. The blinds on the windows were difficult to close, the toilet lid was broken as were the glass in the toilet window. The beds were impeccable with new mattresses. Unfortunately, they only asked for cash, saying that it is not mandatory to have a POS. If you insist on a card, they will eventually serve you....
