A very beautiful courthouse that takes you back to another era. Unfortunately, however, it can no longer meet the needs of the island and urgently needs much more office and service space as well as modernization of the existing ones.
It could easily have been the most beautiful courthouse in the country from an architectural point of view. It is located in a beautiful location. Unfortunately, it needs maintenance. Of course, other parts of Mytilene and the entire island are ahead of it.

Mytilene Court, gelegen in de kustwijk Alyfada aan de rand van Mytilene, de historische hoofdstad van het eiland, biedt bezoekers een comfortabele uitvalsbasis om een van de cultureel meest gelaagde steden van de Egeïsche Zee te verkennen.
De ligging biedt gasten gemakkelijke toegang tot de havenpromenade van Mytilene, waar vissersboten deinen naast cafés en ouzobars die tot aan het water reiken, en de grote neoklassieke herenhuizen die de bovenstad sieren, getuigen van het welvarende handelstijdperk van de negentiende eeuw. De nabijheid van zowel de zee als het stadscentrum maakt dit een aantrekkelijke keuze voor reizigers die de rust van een woonomgeving willen zonder afbreuk te doen aan de toegang tot het levendige stedelijke hart van Lesbos.
Mytilene zelf beloont een rustige verkenning: het imposante Byzantijnse en Genuese kasteel dat de landtong bekroont, het Archeologisch Museum met zijn beroemde antieke mozaïeken, de drukke overdekte markt en de smalle straatjes van de oude stad vertellen elk een ander hoofdstuk van een geschiedenis die meer dan tweeënhalf millennium teruggaat. Verblijven in Mytilene Court betekent dat deze bezienswaardigheden nooit ver weg zijn, terwijl het rustigere tempo van Alyfada aan het eind van de dag een welkom toevluchtsoord biedt. De omliggende kustlijn biedt gemakkelijke toegang tot zwemplekken langs de golf, en de weg ten noorden van Mytilene opent naar enkele van de mooiste landschappen van het eiland, van de olijfgaarden in het binnenland van Lesbos tot de therapeutische warmwaterbronnen bij Thermi.
Voor reizigers die per veerboot aankomen in de haven van Mytilene – de belangrijkste toegangspoort tot het eiland – is Mytilene Court een praktische en karaktervolle eerste of laatste halte op een reis naar Lesbos. Of u nu hier bent om in de voetsporen van de oude dichteres Sappho te treden, om te genieten van de vermaarde ouzo en lokaal geperste olijfolie van het eiland, of gewoon om de onthaaste ritmes van het Griekse eilandleven in u op te nemen, de setting combineert stedelijk gemak met de eenvoud en warmte die de gastvrijheid in deze hoek van de noordoostelijke Egeïsche Zee kenmerken.

Wat u kunt verwachten
Hier verblijven betekent op loopafstand zijn van de levendige havenboulevard van Mytilini, waar vissersbootjes, waterfront-cafés en ouzo-gelegenheden de ochtend vullen met de geluiden en geuren van een echte Egeïsche havenstad. De Alyfada-wijk heeft een authentiek, lokaal karakter zonder toeristisch tumult, en het Byzantijnse kasteel op de landtong is van bijna overal in de buurt zichtbaar. Dagen verlopen gewoonlijk tussen de overdekte markt, de neoklassieke bovenstad en de zwemplekken langs de golf.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Eind april tot oktober is de meest geschikte periode; juli en augustus zijn warm en levendig, met terrassen en tavernes die tot laat open blijven.
Hoe er te komen
Het verblijf ligt in Mytilini zelf, op minder dan een kilometer van de veerhaven, zodat u na aankomst per boot vanuit Athene of Thessaloniki met een korte taxirit — of zelfs te voet bij licht bagage — kunt aankomen.

I have done 2 court distributions there 15 years ago!! The court appointed an engineer to prepare a report. The engineer said that I have no connection with the court. The court assigned another engineer to prepare a report. The decision was delayed and I took the engineer myself to ask them if he did an autopsy report as the court appointed him!! His answer was that I am not going to a dispute with the owner who lives in the village and I have known them for many years and I will not!! Since then there has been no information from the courthouse.

The architecture that the building follows is "neoclassical oriental style". It is located in the "Kioski" area, which is dominated by two of the most impressive buildings on the island... Its construction, as the Ottoman High School of Mytilene, began in 1888 and was completed in 1893. The cost of construction reached 8,000 pounds. It was inaugurated in 1896 and since 1912, it has housed the Courthouse of Mytilene...

So far I've only been passing by from the outside...A building that is a jewel for the city of Mytilene!! The architecture that the building follows is "neoclassical oriental style". It is located in the "Kiosk" area, which is dominated by two of the most impressive buildings on the island... Its construction, as the Ottoman Gymnasium of Mytilene (Intantie), began in 1888 and was completed in 1893, with the architect Dimitris Meimaris. The cost of construction reached 8,000 pounds. It was inaugurated on 19/08/1896 and since 1912, it has housed the Mytilene Courthouse...

Building - a jewel, of wonderful architecture but old. Needs maintenance. A black spot are the toilets which are outside the building and despite the honest efforts of the cleaner they are miserable to say the least. Observation: The courthouse of Mytilene is identical to that of Komotini in everything except the facade. Probably by the same architect.
