Over ons

OUTSTANDING. We've already booked it next year before we left. The rooms are simple but comfortable, breakfast and lunch are nice, the pool bar is quite good. The pool and grounds are great. They put on events multiple times a week for evening entertainment. The location is ideal- just outside of a wonderful village and beach, nicely situated in the center of the island. A short car rental or taxi from anywhere. Highly recommend it for a lovely, relaxing week or two in the sun!!

We were in one of the swim-up rooms. Nice enough, good bathroom and separate loo both of which I think had been recently refurbished. The bed was comfortable. No safe in the room but you could rent one in reception. Housekeeping came almost every day, which we all agreed wasn’t really necessary. The swim up pool is shared by all rooms on the block - I think about 8 of them. It felt a bit off to swim in front of the neighbours but as long as you got to know them, it was fine. But when a family arrived we all had to listen to their music which shattered the peace a bit. Our neighbours found a wasps nest outside their room but it was dealt with swiftly when they reported it. I also liked that our terrace looked out over the kitchen garden where they were growing all sorts of vegetables. We didn’t use the main pool, which seemed to have the usual battle of towels down to bag a sun-bed. The sun-bed mattresses were tired and shabby, and it looked as though most of the covers were stained by suntan lotion and probably sweat. They could do with being washed. Breakfast was fine with a decent selection. They know how to poach an egg. The coffee machine is decent, but there was inevitably a queue for it. We didn’t see any evidence of food options at other times of the day, apart from their barbecue night. But we didn’t look that hard. The pool bar was nice enough although the music choices were questionable given that most of the guests were older. The guy running the hotel didn’t seem to be particularly friendly, and I was disappointed that no one bothered to tell me that my delayed baggage had been delivered. I found it some time later, abandoned in reception. It’s a 10-minute walk into the village, which offers little shade and involves crossing the obligatory (every Greek village appears to have one) stinky bridge which seems to be the hotel’s sewage soak away. I could be wrong and it takes less than a minute’s walk to be clear of it. Having said all that, there wasn’t enough to write it off. The island is beautiful and we may well go back to another area and hire a car to explore.
Owner Response
Dear Alison,
I just want to point out that, when the hotel is informed about a missing luggage, we try to find the guest when the luggage arrives. But the problem was that we did not know till you came at the reception to ask for it. The luggage was next to the manager's office door. The place is safe from thefting.
kind regards
Bill
Manager Of HOtel Pasiphae
My brother and I had a very nice stay here in April this year for one week. The staff were all lovely, rooms were very clean and serviced daily. The pool area is spacious with a great pool. The hotel is located about a ten minute walk from the resort centre over level ground. At breakfast there was always a good choice of freshly prepared items. I will hopefully be returning at some point soon. Oh! Forgot to mention the adorable little dog that seemed to be resident.

Hotel needs some repairs around communal areas. Having the option of eating in the hotel at night would of been nice. Having facilities to make hot drinks in room would of been a great option.

This is a marmite hotel, you will love it or hate it.Booking in is easy and pain free,Bill the manager and his daughter do what they can to help you.We went half board which was a mistake, the breakfast is fine and everything you'd expect, the lunch is a lot more basic and minimal, which is ok,the problems start with the evening meal, there is NO choice at all,Bill brings you out a starter which he has decided on,and these starters are bizarre, the main again is what Bill decides, and the sweet is the same,in his daughters words,a strawberry tasting creamy thing,so next time we go B&B. Our room was not nice,we had two tiny beds,if you roll over you fall out, they really are that small, the bathroom is ok,but the shower is tiny,if you're over ten stone you ain't getting in it,it's really small. Other rooms we saw were better with adult size single beds not children size, and some had doubles, but the rooms are nothing like the website photos,so be warned. We may have just been unlucky with the room..... Tuesday night is BBQ night and was excellent, but on Wednesday you get the left over BBQ food, with a tin of tomatoes poured over it,and the frozen rice too, Wednesday was our last meal in,we went to the beach restaurants after that, you will too,no one eats in the hotel in the evenings.Service is ok but really slow as they are struggling to get staff numbers up,you can wait at the unstaffed bar for ages for a drink, then someone will look over from the restaurant where they are serving and eventually come and serve you, again not the end of the world, but not what you are used to or paid for. The pool is large and the pool area is ok too, obviously the beds are mostly gone by 9 am,but that's not the hotels fault although they could change it,so if you want a bed you will need to get up early probably about 6-30 to get a bed, there is a lovely beach a flat ten minutes walk away,so we used that daily and let the knobs steal the beds. All in all a good week away, but there are as mentioned some issues that need attention. Lastly a new one for us is the crowd funding where the hotel ask you to donate £100 towards new sunbeds before you leave ,so pay your money and take your chances you'll love it or you'll hate it.
