This is such a good restaurant. We went 2 times. It was so good grilled steak. And first time delicious lamb. The staff is so friendly and good. The view is amazing from the hill. Highly recommanded!

Χωμένο στους καταπράσινους λόφους του βόρειου τμήματος της Λέσβου, κοντά στο ήσυχο χωριό της Λαφιώνας, το Ο Γαβριλός είναι ένα από εκείνα τα αμέριμνα, αγαπημένα στους ντόπιους καταστήματα που ορίζουν τον αυθεντικό ρυθμό της νησιώτικης ζωής. Πήρε το όνομά του από τον ιδιοκτήτη του, ακολουθώντας την αιωνόβια ελληνική παράδοση, και κουβαλά τη ζεστασιά και την οικειότητα ενός μέρους όπου ο ιδιοκτήτης ξέρει τους τακτικούς του πελάτες ονομαστικά και οι ξένοι γίνονται γρήγορα φίλοι. Η βόρεια ύπαιθρος της Λέσβου εδώ είναι πλούσια και σε μεγάλο βαθμό ανέγγιχτη από τον μαζικό τουρισμό, κάνοντας μια στάση στο Ο Γαβριλός να μοιάζει με γνήσια ανακάλυψη παρά με προγραμματισμένη επίσκεψη.
Όσοι βρουν τον δρόμο τους ώς εδώ μπορούν να περιμένουν τις απλές χαρές ενός παραδοσιακού ελληνικού καταστήματος: καλό φαγητό φτιαγμένο με τοπικά υλικά, παγωμένα ποτά που σερβίρονται χωρίς βιασύνη, και κουβέντα που κυλά τόσο εύκολα όσο το ελαιόλαδο που στάζει πάνω στους μεζέδες. Η περιοχή γύρω από τη Λαφιώνα είναι γνωστή για τις ελαιώνες της και τον αργό, ειδυλλιακό ρυθμό που από παλιά χαρακτηρίζει αυτή τη γωνιά του νησιού, και το Ο Γαβριλός αντικατοπτρίζει απόλυτα αυτόν τον χαρακτήρα. Είτε σταματάτε εδώ αφού εξερευνήσετε την κοντινή ύπαιθρο είτε τη δραματική βόρεια ακτογραμμή, σας προσφέρει μια ευπρόσδεκτη ανάπαυλα και μια γεύση από τη Λέσβο όπως την βιώνουν οι ίδιοι οι κάτοικοί της.
Αυτό που κάνει το Ο Γαβριλός αξιοπρόσεκτο είναι ακριβώς εκείνο που δεν μπορεί να αναπαραχθεί στα πολυσύχναστα θέρετρα: η αίσθηση του τόπου, της αυθεντικότητας, μιας φιλοξενίας που δεν προσφέρεται ως υπηρεσία αλλά ως συνήθεια. Σε μια περιοχή όπου ο τουρισμός δεν έχει ακόμη εξομαλύνει τις ακμές της καθημερινής ζωής, μέρη σαν αυτό λειτουργούν ως παράθυρο στην πραγματική Λέσβο. Ελάτε χωρίς σταθερό πρόγραμμα, καθίστε λίγο περισσότερο από όσο σχεδιάζατε, και φύγετε με εκείνη την ιδιαίτερη ικανοποίηση που μόνο μια γνήσια τοπική εμπειρία μπορεί να σας χαρίσει.

Τι να περιμένετε
Τα τραπέζια εδώ γεμίζουν εξίσου με ντόπιους και επισκέπτες, πράγμα που είναι πάντα καλό σημάδι σε ένα χωριό. Παραγγείλτε μια μεζεδόσπρεντ, απολαύστε μια κρύα μπύρα ή ένα ούζο και αφεθείτε στον ήπιο ρυθμό του βορείου Λέσβου. Οι ελαιώνες τριγύρω και η ησυχία της Λαφιόνας κάνουν τη στάση αυτή να κρατά πολύ περισσότερο απ' ό,τι είχατε σχεδιάσει.
Καλύτερη εποχή
Το αργό άνοιξη και η αρχή του φθινοπώρου προσφέρουν τον πιο ευχάριστο καιρό· ακόμη και τον Ιούλιο και τον Αύγουστο ο βορράς παραμένει αισθητά πιο ήσυχος από τα τουριστικά θέρετρα.
Πώς θα φτάσετε
Από τη Μυτιλήνη, ακολουθείτε βορειοδυτικά κατεύθυνση προς Καλλονή και συνεχίζετε προς Σίγρι — η Λαφιόνα βρίσκεται στους λόφους πάνω από τη βόρεια ακτή, περίπου μία ώρα οδήγηση. Οι δρόμοι είναι ελικοειδείς αλλά το τοπίο αξίζει την παράκαμψη.

A great place with a beautiful view. The sunset is amazing. This resturant mainly serves meat dishes along with some traditional Greek food. Reservation is advised. The restaurant is in the hills, so it can be a litle windy and chilly, even in summer.

It's a very nice, quiet place. They were very attentive and even though we didn't have a reservation, they arranged a table for us. The lamb was so delicious that I wish I had a bigger stomach :) The local grapes they recommended were also delicious. It was a pleasant evening.

Go just before sunset and have both a food and visual excellent experience. Everything here is good but they specialise in lamb and sheep meat. Food can take a little while until it is on you table but that’s just because the food is prepared with dedication. Their grill master really knows what s/he does. Usually, I don’t think French fries are good in Greece (too soft and oily), but here they’ve leaned! In sum, this place is a must if you’re in the area.

The place is special because it has a very beautiful view. The food is very good, traditionally cooked. The hosts strive to provide services to the customers' satisfaction. It is recommended to come here in the evening for the sunset and to make a reservation in advance.

Fried cheese delightful, salad well balanced with different ingredients. Steak and lamb plentiful and cooked to perfection. Owners wine recommendation was outstanding. Well worth the drive to enjoy the view and excellent cuisine. 👌

First of all, have to say that you are eating in a very beautiful view. The meat is very good, their own wine is very good and we were very satisfied with the other food. The ambiance is also very nice.

The place has a bohemian yet traditional atmosphere, and the view is absolutely stunning. Their lamb is already famous and definitely a must-try – it was truly delicious. All the mezes were excellent, and the “dolma” were outstanding. The service and attention were spot on. This was the place we were most satisfied with in Mytilene, and we’re planning to visit again before our trip ends. Big portions, good service and delicious!🙌🏽

Tried this restaurant . The view is great. In the peak season you need reservation no matter of the day. Many people come here for the view. The service is great, the waiters are careful with your needs. I feel that the food could be better, given the fact that they have like 15 meals in the menu. We had the pork neck steak, i felt that it was a bit dry. The potatoes are good. Overall the location is worth it.
