About this Beach
Skala Mistegnon è un tranquillo villaggio di pescatori sulla costa settentrionale, con una spiaggia di sabbia e ciottoli, un piccolo porto e ottimi ristoranti di pesce che servono il pescato del mattino senza troppi fronzoli. L'atmosfera è profondamente locale: non è una spiaggia turistica ma un waterfront operoso dove le barche da pesca superano in numero i bagnanti. Il bagno è piacevole anche se non eccezionale, ma le taverne di pesce sono autentiche: semplici, fresche ed economiche. Skala Mistegnon piace ai visitatori che misurano una spiaggia dalla qualità del pranzo piuttosto che dalla morbidezza della sabbia.

Cosa aspettarsi
Il piccolo porto dà il tono: barche da pesca ormeggiate al molo, gatti in attesa vicino alle reti e l'odore del mare che pervade tutto. Seduti a un tavolo sul lungomare, ci si ritrova spesso accanto a famiglie del posto venute apposta per il pesce fresco, non per il paesaggio. La spiaggia fa da sfondo rilassante, non da protagonista.
Periodo migliore
Da maggio a ottobre per nuotare comodamente; una visita in settimana a giugno o settembre offre la versione più tranquilla e autentica del villaggio.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si segue la strada costiera orientale verso nord; il tragitto dura circa 25–30 minuti e termina direttamente sul lungomare del paese.

It's an absolutely pristine beach, over 500 meters long. The only downside is a small problem that can be solved with pebble (stone) shoes. This isn't a problem for swimmers. The water is crystal clear. Parking is free along the shore. The sunbeds belong to a business there, but you can also spread out your towel and sit there for free. Someone from the business comes to the sunbeds and you order something for yourself (water, beer, ice cream, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc.). It's a wonderful environment. There are also tree shades. I recommend not going too late in the morning (for shade and sunbeds).

This is a fantastic place to swim and relax. The beach is made of small pebbles and there are several trees over the beach that offer plenty of shade. If you bring your own ombrella you may struggle a bit to set it up although we always managed in the end. The beach is equipped with wc, showers and changing cabins nicely located at regular distance... Obviously free! The beach has received the blue flag for the quality of the water so bring your diving equipment! Please beware that as you enter the sea there are some large stones so some may want to use sea shoes. Keep in mind that the water gets deep quite quickly. There is a mini market nearby and 3-4 tavernas that serve great Greek food so you'll have definitely a great time!

Since this year it also holds a BLUE FLAG, 500 meters of beach!!! Wonderful place, very close to Mytilene, with a few shops for food and a mini-market for the essentials, as well as several rooms to rent. It has showers and changing rooms, as well as the essentials that require the blue flag. The Municipality should take more care, a. with a direct road, {the existing road has some dangerous bends due to visibility}, b. with more care in cleanliness, c. with stricter observance of the rules for pets, which now pollute the beach, d. with awareness of professionals and residents for the observance of the above rules... It is a wonderful place for recreation - swimming and relaxation
