About this Beach
Skala Mistegnon is een rustig vissersdorp aan de noordkust met een zand- en kiezelstrand, een klein haventje en uitstekende visrestaurants die de ochtendvangst zonder poespas serveren. De sfeer is uitgesproken lokaal – dit is geen toeristenstrand maar een werkende waterkant waar vissersboten talrijker zijn dan zonaanbidders. Het zwemmen is aangenaam maar niet bijzonder, maar de vistaveernes zijn het echte werk: eenvoudig, vers en voordelig. Skala Mistegnon spreekt bezoekers aan die een strand beoordelen op de kwaliteit van de lunch in plaats van op de zachtheid van het zand.

Wat u kunt verwachten
De kleine haven geeft de toon aan — vissersboten liggen afgemeerd aan de kade, katten wachten bij de netten en de geur van de zee trekt over alles heen. Aan een tafeltje op het terras aan het water zit u waarschijnlijk naast lokale families die speciaal voor de verse vis zijn gekomen, niet voor het uitzicht. Het strand is een rustgevend decor, niet het hoofddoel.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Van mei tot oktober kunt u comfortabel zwemmen; kom op een doordeweekse dag in juni of september voor de rustigste en meest authentieke sfeer van het dorp.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini volgt u de oostelijke kustweg naar het noorden; de rit duurt ongeveer 25 tot 30 minuten en eindigt direct aan de waterkant van het dorp.

It's an absolutely pristine beach, over 500 meters long. The only downside is a small problem that can be solved with pebble (stone) shoes. This isn't a problem for swimmers. The water is crystal clear. Parking is free along the shore. The sunbeds belong to a business there, but you can also spread out your towel and sit there for free. Someone from the business comes to the sunbeds and you order something for yourself (water, beer, ice cream, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc.). It's a wonderful environment. There are also tree shades. I recommend not going too late in the morning (for shade and sunbeds).

This is a fantastic place to swim and relax. The beach is made of small pebbles and there are several trees over the beach that offer plenty of shade. If you bring your own ombrella you may struggle a bit to set it up although we always managed in the end. The beach is equipped with wc, showers and changing cabins nicely located at regular distance... Obviously free! The beach has received the blue flag for the quality of the water so bring your diving equipment! Please beware that as you enter the sea there are some large stones so some may want to use sea shoes. Keep in mind that the water gets deep quite quickly. There is a mini market nearby and 3-4 tavernas that serve great Greek food so you'll have definitely a great time!

Since this year it also holds a BLUE FLAG, 500 meters of beach!!! Wonderful place, very close to Mytilene, with a few shops for food and a mini-market for the essentials, as well as several rooms to rent. It has showers and changing rooms, as well as the essentials that require the blue flag. The Municipality should take more care, a. with a direct road, {the existing road has some dangerous bends due to visibility}, b. with more care in cleanliness, c. with stricter observance of the rules for pets, which now pollute the beach, d. with awareness of professionals and residents for the observance of the above rules... It is a wonderful place for recreation - swimming and relaxation
