About this Beach
Skala Mistegnon is a quiet fishing village on the northern coast with a sand-and-pebble beach, a small harbour, and excellent fish restaurants that serve the morning catch with minimal fuss. The atmosphere is thoroughly local — this is not a tourist beach but a working waterfront where fishing boats outnumber sunbathers. The swimming is pleasant if unremarkable, but the fish tavernas are the genuine article: simple, fresh, and inexpensive. Skala Mistegnon appeals to visitors who measure a beach by the quality of its lunch rather than the softness of its sand.

What to expect
The harbour sets the tone — fishing boats idle at their moorings while cats wait near the nets and the smell of the sea carries over everything. Sit at one of the waterfront tables and you will likely share the terrace with local families who came specifically for the fish, not the scenery. The beach itself is a relaxed backdrop rather than the main event.
Best time to visit
May through October for comfortable swimming; a weekday in June or September gives you the quietest, most local version of the village.
How to get there
From Mytilene, follow the eastern coastal road north; the drive takes roughly 25–30 minutes and ends right at the village waterfront.

It's an absolutely pristine beach, over 500 meters long. The only downside is a small problem that can be solved with pebble (stone) shoes. This isn't a problem for swimmers. The water is crystal clear. Parking is free along the shore. The sunbeds belong to a business there, but you can also spread out your towel and sit there for free. Someone from the business comes to the sunbeds and you order something for yourself (water, beer, ice cream, freshly squeezed orange juice, etc.). It's a wonderful environment. There are also tree shades. I recommend not going too late in the morning (for shade and sunbeds).

This is a fantastic place to swim and relax. The beach is made of small pebbles and there are several trees over the beach that offer plenty of shade. If you bring your own ombrella you may struggle a bit to set it up although we always managed in the end. The beach is equipped with wc, showers and changing cabins nicely located at regular distance... Obviously free! The beach has received the blue flag for the quality of the water so bring your diving equipment! Please beware that as you enter the sea there are some large stones so some may want to use sea shoes. Keep in mind that the water gets deep quite quickly. There is a mini market nearby and 3-4 tavernas that serve great Greek food so you'll have definitely a great time!

Since this year it also holds a BLUE FLAG, 500 meters of beach!!! Wonderful place, very close to Mytilene, with a few shops for food and a mini-market for the essentials, as well as several rooms to rent. It has showers and changing rooms, as well as the essentials that require the blue flag. The Municipality should take more care, a. with a direct road, {the existing road has some dangerous bends due to visibility}, b. with more care in cleanliness, c. with stricter observance of the rules for pets, which now pollute the beach, d. with awareness of professionals and residents for the observance of the above rules... It is a wonderful place for recreation - swimming and relaxation
