Incastonato nel villaggio di Ereso, uno degli angoli più ricchi di storia di Lesbo e leggendaria patria della poetessa antica Saffo, Mezen offre un accogliente rifugio per i viaggiatori che esplorano le tranquille propaggini sud-occidentali dell'isola. Il ristorante attinge alla ricca tradizione dei mezedes greci, dove il piacere del pasto non risiede in un unico piatto ma nella condivisione senza fretta di tanti — piccole portate di olive, formaggi, verdure grigliate e frutti di mare a chilometro zero che rispecchiano i ritmi della dispensa egea. È il tipo di posto dove un pranzo pomeridiano può facilmente prolungarsi fino a sera presto, accompagnato da vino locale o ouzo e dalla conversazione spontanea di un villaggio che da tempo attrae spiriti liberi e viaggiatori curiosi. Ereso stessa si trova a breve distanza nell'entroterra dalla lunga distesa sabbiosa di Skala Eresou, e Mezen rappresenta una tappa naturale prima o dopo una giornata in spiaggia, o durante l'esplorazione delle rovine bizantine e del museo etnografico del villaggio. L'atmosfera tende alla calma e all'autenticità, plasmata dal carattere di una comunità che apprezza allo stesso modo il buon cibo e la buona compagnia. I visitatori che intraprendono il viaggio fino a questo remoto angolo di Lesbo — e ne vale davvero la pena — troveranno a Mezen un luogo che incarna il meglio dell'ospitalità isolana: cucina genuina, calda accoglienza e un ambiente che ricorda perché si è venuti qui.

Cosa aspettarsi
Da Mezen i piattini arrivano uno dopo l'altro — olive, verdure alla griglia, formaggi locali, frutti di mare — e il pasto segue il ritmo del paese, non quello dell'orologio. Eresos ha una sua gravità particolare, con i vicoli acciottolati e una comunità che ha sempre attirato viaggiatori curiosi, e quella sensazione si avverte anche a tavola.
Periodo migliore
La fine della primavera fino all'inizio dell'autunno è il periodo migliore; agosto è più affollato, ma il villaggio mantiene la sua atmosfera tranquilla.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si percorre circa un'ora di strada verso ovest attraverso l'interno dell'isola per raggiungere Eresos; il ristorante si trova nel centro del paese.

Good meals and service I had shrimp in ouzo wife had stiffaldo. Served nice and hot was very tasty.

Food is lovely and very traditional, service is excellent especially the one with big belly and the one with the bigger belly, and of course the one who takes the money. It's a great atmosphere and very friendly, thanks for a great night again. We will be back.

We ate twice here in one week because the food was so good the first time round. Pictures attached are of the lamb ribs, Stifado (beef and onion stew), Giovetsi (beef tomato and pasta stew) and shrimps. Everything was really tasty and well done. The table bread was a bit stale and not the best. Service was good on our first visit but quite frantic on the second visit because it was so busy. For a really good meal here this is a great choice.

From the very first bite, this place won our hearts. We enjoyed perfectly cooked sea bass with fresh vegetables, a crisp and flavorful Greek salad, and beautifully roasted eggplants that melted in the mouth. Paired with a glass of local wine and a splash of ouzo 🌝, it turned into an unforgettable feast. The staff were not only professional but genuinely warm and attentive, making us feel truly welcome. A spot I’d recommend 100% to anyone wanting an authentic taste of the region.

In our opinion, easily the best restaurant in the village. The menu was a bit more inventive than the typical Greek restaurant and the food was excellent. We always sat outside on the terrace to enjoy the view and watch the world go by. Service was friendly and we had a complimentary mini Magnum type of ice cream for dessert. By our third visit they knew our drinks choices and that my husband would decline the ice cream! It’s right next to the church and the bell strikes every hour which always made us jump! It also gave us an excellent view of a wedding which was a bonus.

Very nice restaurant. Friendly staff. Enjoy time with your family and friends. When you leave here you make new friends and family! Delicious food. Tried so much, you can go back again and again just to try the many different things!
