Incastonato nell’incantevole villaggio di Petra, sulla costa nord-occidentale di Lesbo, Niki's Atelier è uno studio artigianale dove l’arte locale prende una forma tangibile e bella. L’atelier è specializzato in ceramiche e gioielli fatti a mano, ogni pezzo modellato e rifinito a mano secondo la tradizione artigianale greca che privilegia l’espressione individuale rispetto alla produzione in serie. Entrare qui non sembra tanto di entrare in un negozio quanto piuttosto di visitare uno spazio creativo in attività, dove gli oggetti esposti portano i segni di una lavorazione attenta e sapiente. I visitatori di Niki's Atelier possono curiosare e acquistare ceramiche uniche nel loro genere — ciotole, vasi, pezzi decorativi — insieme a gioielli fatti a mano che traggono ispirazione dai colori e dalle texture del mondo egeo circostante. Il lavoro riflette una sensibilità radicata in questo paesaggio: i blu profondi del mare, i caldi toni terrosi del suolo vulcanico dell’isola, le forme organiche che si trovano lungo la sua costa. Che stiate cercando un souvenir significativo o un pezzo d’arte davvero indossabile, l’atelier offre qualcosa che un negozio di catena semplicemente non può. Petra è uno dei villaggi più visitati di Lesbo, ancorato alla suggestiva formazione rocciosa sormontata dalla Chiesa della Vergine dal dolce bacio, e Niki's Atelier si inserisce naturalmente nell’atmosfera di scoperta senza fretta del villaggio. Per i viaggiatori che apprezzano l’autentico artigianato locale e vogliono portare a casa qualcosa fatto con vera cura e abilità, questo atelier merita davvero di essere cercato durante una visita alla zona.

Cosa aspettarsi
Visitare l'Atelier di Niki somiglia più all'ingresso in uno spazio creativo che in un negozio di souvenir — le ceramiche e i gioielli sono disposti con cura, e ogni pezzo porta la traccia visibile della mano che lo ha modellato. Potreste soffermarvi su una ciotola la cui smaltatura richiama i blu del mare Egeo, o su un gioiello le cui forme rispecchiano la costa vulcanica nei dintorni.
Periodo migliore
L'atelier è aperto durante la stagione turistica, dalla primavera all'autunno; per una visita più tranquilla, è preferibile scegliere fine maggio, giugno o settembre, fuori dai periodi di maggiore affluenza.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si percorre la strada costiera nord in direzione di Petra — il tragitto dura circa 50-55 minuti. L'atelier si trova nel centro del paese, a pochi passi dalla celebre roccia con la chiesa sulla cima.

A lovely welcome from Niki. I bought a lovely celtic necklace and a gorgeous ceramic face for our back garden wall in the UK to brighten up the winter. Could have bought more !! Lovely to meet Niki, she was very sweet.

Beautiful pottery for home and garden Also jewelry, including gold plated, but be careful, fingers still looked green. However, the lady said that this was not possible even though she could see it in her mind. The ring we bought with zirconia as a gift for a good friend lost the stone after 2 days. Very embarrassing and can't go back. We feel cheated.

Beautiful items, but the lady's friendliness leaves room for improvement. The elderly owner who occasionally works in the shop could serve as a good example.
