Distilleria storica di ouzo a Plagia che offre visite guidate attraverso l'intero processo produttivo, dalle erbe aromatiche all'imbottigliamento. Degustazioni di vari stili di ouzo con personale esperto a un ottimo rapporto qualità-prezzo (2 € a persona). Essenziale per comprendere la leggendaria tradizione dell'ouzo di Plagia.
Prima di partire
Cosa aspettarsi
Il profumo pungente dell'anice la accoglie ancor prima di raggiungere la sala di produzione, dove gli alambicchi in rame dominano il cuore della distilleria. Una guida illustra ogni fase con cura — dalle erbe aromatiche alla fermentazione, dalla distillazione all'imbottigliamento — e la degustazione finale consente di confrontare diversi stili di ouzo fianco a fianco. La visita si svolge con calma e offre un'esperienza autenticamente formativa.
Periodo migliore
La primavera e l'inizio dell'autunno sono i periodi più gradevoli; d'estate la visita è possibile ma il locale di produzione può essere caldo con gli alambicchi in funzione.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si procede verso sud in direzione Plomari, poi si seguono le indicazioni per Plagia avvicinandosi alla zona; il tragitto richiede circa 45 minuti o un'ora percorrendo la tortuosa strada meridionale.

I cannot recommend enough visiting the distillery. The full tour is 30-40 minutes long, providing the visitor with key succinct information and the chance to experience what ouzo plomari is all about. You can also experience Greek hospitality given how helpful the guides are and the treats visitors are given. Really well done!
