Visitors say
We had the tour yesterday and enjoyed a lot. You can see all the production steps w/ explanation and tasting different kinds of ouzos they produce. Well worth for 2 euro tickets. Special thanks for the kind tour guide.
Very friendly staff, a must-see settlement with a historical background…
About
Historic ouzo distillery in Plagia offering guided tours through the entire production process from botanicals to bottling. Tastings of various ouzo styles with knowledgeable staff at excellent value (€2 per person). Essential for understanding Plagia's legendary ouzo tradition.
Before you go
What to expect
The sharp, clean scent of anise greets you before you even reach the production floor, where copper stills stand at the heart of the operation. A guide walks you through every stage — raw botanicals, fermentation, distillation, bottling — and the tasting at the end lets you compare styles side by side, sweet against dry, aged against fresh. It is unhurried and genuinely educational rather than a tourist throughput exercise.
Best time to visit
Spring and early autumn are the most comfortable; summer visits work but the production space can be warm when the stills are running.
How to get there
Head south from Mytilene toward Plomari and follow signs for Plagia once you are near town; the drive takes roughly 45 minutes to an hour along the winding southern road.

I cannot recommend enough visiting the distillery. The full tour is 30-40 minutes long, providing the visitor with key succinct information and the chance to experience what ouzo plomari is all about. You can also experience Greek hospitality given how helpful the guides are and the treats visitors are given. Really well done!
