Cafe Restaurant Moon is een gastvrije eetgelegenheid in Petra, een van de charmantste kustdorpen van Lesbos, aan de noordkust van het eiland. Petra staat vooral bekend om zijn iconische rotsformatie met daarbovenop de kerk van de Zoetzoende Maagd, en de cafés en restaurants langs de boulevard bieden bezoekers een ideale plek om uit te rusten en het ontspannen ritme van het Egeïsche leven op te snuiven. Moon maakt deel uit van deze gezellige sfeer en is een natuurlijk ontmoetingspunt voor zowel inwoners als reizigers die het noorden van het eiland verkennen.
Als café én restaurant biedt Moon een gastvrijheid die de hele dag duurt, zodat u 's ochtends kunt genieten van een Griekse koffie, op uw gemak kunt lunchen of na een dag vol uitstapjes of strandbezoek kunt aanschuiven voor een avondmaaltijd. Bezoekers mogen rekenen op de typische elementen van de lokale keuken: verse ingrediënten, royale porties en de ongedwongen warmte die de gastvrijheid op Lesbos kenmerkt. Wat u kunt verwachten
Moon ligt aan de zeepromenade van Petra, met de beroemde rots van het dorp als imposante achtergrond — een decor dat zelfs een gewone koffie bijzonder maakt. U kunt er terecht voor een ochtendkoffie voor u verder trekt, een rustige lunch in de schaduw, of een ontspannen diner terwijl het avondlicht over de Egeïsche Zee valt. De sfeer is onthaast en de keuken royaal en eerlijk.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Eind mei tot september is de beste periode; in juli en augustus is Petra erg druk, dus kom vroeg of laat op de dag voor een tafel aan de promenade.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini rijdt u via de hoofdweg naar het noorden door Kalloni richting Petra — ongeveer 50 tot 55 km, wat neerkomt op circa een uur rijden. Eenmaal in het dorp is de kleine zeepromenade gemakkelijk te voet te verkennen.

The food was delicious, lamb chops, lemon chicken and grilled chicken. Not sure why they served the neck though! It's clearly a hard working family, yes they could do with more staff as service was a little slow. The server however was very friendly even under stress. The sunset was beautiful, the beer cold and you are on holiday . . . Relax.

Absolutely fantastic service, delicious and varied. We came for breakfast every day then sat at their complimentary sun beds right by the sea on the beach. Perfect in every way, such friendly people at Moon Cafe Restaurant and lovely food. Cannot recommend enough, our favourite at Petra.

What a fantastic spot Café Restaurant Moon is! Perfectly located right on the beach, with brand-new sunbeds you can use for free as long as you order a drink. The prices are surprisingly affordable, making it even more tempting to spend a whole day here. PS: if you love desserts, try the orange pie. Absolutely fantastic on all fronts. The parasols provide full shade, which really sets them apart from the see-through ones at other beach bars. It’s great to relax in the shade without worrying about getting sunburned. The owner is incredibly friendly and really does her best to make everyone feel welcome. She’s a very kind, gentle person and provides excellent service. The dining terrace is nearly all new and looks fantastic, with comfortable chairs and spacious tables. The food is very reasonably priced, and the portions are generous. Just what you need after a day at the beach. Everything is freshly made: the pizza was loaded with toppings and served piping hot, and the Greek salad was filled with fresh tomatoes, Greek feta, and local olives. And the sunset here? Absolutely breathtaking. It’s the kind of place where you can easily spend the entire day, morning coffee, lunch in the afternoon, and a drink at sunset. Highly recommended!

Food was unfortunately cold, and honestly did not taste of anything. I don't know if the restaurant had a bad day but the server was inside cooking food. When you walk by you literally see it almost empty except for a few people waiting for their dinner just like we did for too long. The bright white lights does not welcome you, like they do in the neighbouring restaurants. Oh, and if you have any in your company that does not understand English very well, the menu is hell to understand.
