Ta Glyka tis Elenis — Elena's Zoetigheid — is een geliefde plaatselijke confiserie, verscholen bij het rustige dorp Alyfada, in het zachte binnenlandse landschap van Lesbos. De naam alleen al zegt alles over de ziel van deze plek: dit is persoonlijk, huiselijk koken, gebouwd op familierecepten die van generatie op generatie zijn doorgegeven, ver verwijderd van industriële productie. Lesbos heeft een rijke traditie van lepelzoetjes, gebak en confituur, gevoed door de weelde aan olijven, vijgen, citrusvruchten en amandelen die het eiland biedt, en een winkel als deze is waar die traditie het meest levend wordt gehouden.
Bezoekers die hier even stoppen, kunnen rekenen op de volledige zintuiglijke ervaring van een Griekse snoepwinkel: potten glanzende vruchtenconfituur, loukoumades, traditionele koekjes geurig naar kaneel en kruidnagel, en wellicht de plaatselijke specialiteit — lekkernijen met ouzo die het beroemde distillatie-erfgoed van het eiland weerspiegelen. De sfeer is warm en ontspannen, het soort plek waar de eigenaar u na uw tweede bezoek bij naam begroet en waar een aankoop van gebak onvermijdelijk vergezeld gaat van een verhaal. Voor reizigers die de stillere dorpen van het eilandse binnenland verkennen, biedt Ta Glyka tis Elenis een echte, onopgesmukte smaak van de alledaagse gastvrijheid van Lesbos — precies het soort tussenstop dat een van de meest onvergetelijke van de reis blijkt te zijn, juist omdat hij op geen enkel officieel reisschema stond.

Wat u kunt verwachten
Bij binnenkomst valt het oog meteen op de rijen glanzende potten — kweepeer, vijg, bittere sinaasappel — en even later omringt de geur van kaneel en kruidnagel uit de koekjesbakken achter de toonbank u volledig. Dit is het soort rustige banketbakkerij waar een snelle stop voor een potje lepelzoetigheden uitloopt op een proeverij en een gezellig gesprek.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Het hele jaar geopend; het najaar is ideaal, wanneer de vijgen- en citrusconfituren worden gemaakt van de verse oogst.
Hoe er te komen
Ta Glyka tis Elenis ligt iets meer dan een kilometer van het centrum van Mytilene — een korte wandeling of een paar minuten rijden vanaf de haven.

Excellent professionals, I ordered a cake for 20 people for my daughter's party on the same day, I sent them a photo as an original. Simply very good quality!!! Some people think that because it is a "canteen" style that it should be cheaper!!! It has almost the same prices as the rest of the Zach/Steia and a half with a level higher quality!!!

Half a kilo of Dubai chocolates 25 euros??? With such simple and cheap ingredients and a relatively short preparation time? I'm sorry but this is exploitation and mainly unprofessional. We said don't be offended but not 2.5 euros per chocolate. For God's sake, guys. Let's think about who we're addressing and have a sense of the situation around us. 25 euros is a day's wage. Unacceptable price!!
