White Lab Speciality Coffee Shop brengt een eigentijdse koffiecultuur naar de rustigere noordelijke uithoeken van Lesbos en biedt een welkome rustpauze voor reizigers die de weg verkennen tussen Mytilini en de meer afgelegen dorpen van het eiland. Het café ligt vlakbij de kustplaats Alyfada en valt op door zijn toewijding aan specialty coffee — met zorgvuldig geselecteerde bonen en bereidingsmethoden die ver uitstijgen boven de standaard Griekse freddo espresso. Of u nu de voorkeur geeft aan een pour-over, een goed getrokken espresso of een cold brew op een warme Egeïsche middag, het menu weerspiegelt een oprechte passie voor het vak.
De sfeer doet de naam alle eer aan: helder, licht en ontspannen, met een strakke esthetiek die de goede koffie alle ruimte geeft. Het is het soort plek waar een solorijziger die zijn aantekeningen bijwerkt, een stel dat even adempauze neemt tussen twee strandbezoeken, en vaste stamgasten die er hun ochtendritueel van hebben gemaakt, zich allemaal even thuis voelen. Het personeel is doorgaans goed op de hoogte van wat zij serveren, waardoor het een uitstekende plek is om een aanbeveling te vragen als u benieuwd bent naar de verschillen tussen de koffiesoorten op de kaart.
Voor bezoekers van Lesbos die van specialty coffee houden, is het vinden van een plek als White Lab buiten het gebaande toeristenpad een bescheiden maar bevredigende ontdekking. Het herinnert eraan dat het eiland naast zijn eeuwenoude olijfgaarden en traditionele kafeneions stilletjes ook een kosmopolitische kant heeft ontwikkeld. Stop hier om bij te tanken voor u verder rijdt langs de kust of het binnenland in — het omweggetje zult u vrijwel zeker niet betreuren.

Wat u kunt verwachten
Het strakke witte interieur legt alle nadruk op de koffie zelf: zorgvuldig geselecteerde bonen, aandachtige bereiding en barista's die u graag adviseren als u niet zeker weet wat u wilt. De sfeer is rustig en doordacht, ideaal voor een moment op adem tussen twee uitstapjes door.

Het hele jaar geopend; in de zomer is een cold brew in de namiddag een welkome verfrissing.

Extraordinary place to have your morning and your afternoon coffee. Also. We were amazed by the very good quality of the food too. Everything about the food is homemade. The owner and the staff also were very kind. None the less the prices are low for Mytilini and we were there every morning!

Really great quality coffee shop. Two espresso choices: Guatemala & Brazil blend and Ethiopian Yirgacheffee single origin. Both at medium roast. Great quality, delicious. I had a flat white. Wonderfully done! This is the best coffee I've had in the week on this island.

The way they make their coffee is very good and you can tell that they take pride in their work, but I think their coffee beans are too dark roasted for my taste, the coffee was bitter. I think they should just switch to light roasted coffee beans

Strato is the man! Iv been coming to Mytilini my whole life and this IS THE BEST coffee on the island.

There are many places with excellent coffee in the town but this one is my favourite. The have a delicious banana bread (not too sweet contrary to there you'll find) and a carrot cake that is a perfect option if you ate too much of the banana. Service is good and prices correct. Tables outside available. I attach the menu in English.

This is a small, but cozy coffee shop with a terasse serving excellent coffee frappes. The server is nice and welcoming.
