The gyros was delicious, but what truly stole the show was the sauce! Perfect texture, amazing flavor, and just the right balance – it complemented the meat without overpowering it. Fast service and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
My favourite place in Petra hands down. We have tried their moussakka, gyros, pork and chicken souvlaki, grilled veggies.. all of them were delicious and the atmosphere of the place is the cherry on top of the cake!

Au cœur de Petra, Kalderimi tire son nom des anciens chemins pavés qui reliaient autrefois les villages de Lesbos, et cet esprit de tradition sans hâte imprègne tout ce que l’endroit propose. Petra elle-même est l’une des destinations les plus appréciées de l’île, dominée par l’impressionnant rocher volcanique qui s’élève du centre du village et couronné par l’église de Panagia Glykofiloussa. Dans ce cadre, Kalderimi constitue un point de rencontre naturel pour les visiteurs comme pour les habitants, offrant nourriture, boissons et cette hospitalité facile qui fait la réputation de la mer Égée.
Un arrêt à Kalderimi tient autant à l’atmosphère qu’à ce qui arrive sur la table. Le nom évoque la texture de l’ancienne Lesbos — ruelles pavées à la main, murs blanchis à la chaux, le rythme lent de la vie villageoise — et un lieu qui porte cette identité tend à s’inscrire dans le caractère régional plutôt qu’à s’en éloigner. Attendez-vous aux plaisirs honnêtes d’un établissement grec bien tenu : ouzo et tsipouro locaux, mezzés peut-être issus des environs, et un café pris au rythme que l’après-midi impose.
Pour les visiteurs qui explorent les alentours de Petra après avoir grimpé jusqu’à l’église au sommet de la colline ou flâné dans la belle demeure de l’époque ottomane de Vareltzidaina toute proche, Kalderimi offre une halte bienvenue pour se reposer et faire le point. Il représente ce qu’il y a de plus séduisant dans le voyage à Lesbos — le sentiment que l’île n’a pas troqué son âme contre la commodité, et que les meilleurs moments ici sont ceux sans hâte.

À quoi s'attendre
Vous vous retrouverez probablement attardé bien au-delà de vos prévisions — un verre de tsipouro, quelques mezedes et la lumière dorée jouant sur les murs en pierre du village suffisent à ralentir le temps. Kalderimi se trouve au cœur même de Petra, dans le flux naturel de la vie du village, entre habitants du coin et visiteurs venus souffler après la montée à l'église du rocher.
Quand y aller
D'avril à octobre, le cadre est à son meilleur ; les soirées d'été sont animées, tandis que le printemps et l'automne offrent une atmosphère plus sereine.
Comment s'y rendre
Petra se trouve à environ une heure de route au nord de Mytilène par la route principale vers la côte nord ; Kalderimi est au centre du village et se rejoint facilement à pied depuis le parking.

Please do not leave Petra without coming to this restaurant!!!! The food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the fillet mignon, cooked to perfection, so tender and juicy. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We ate out at several restaurants but this was by far our favourite place so much so we ate here 3 times!! An absolute must you will not be disappointed.

Everything was perfect. We had pita bread, tzatziki, grilled vegetable and chicken gyros plate. Portions are generous and the food is delicious. They also have a lovely garden area where you can dine or you can take a gyros in pita bread to go. Thank you!

We read good opinions and were totally disappointed after visiting. Sarcastic waiter’s answers and comments, cold meat in hot giros, lamb souvlaki with blood, small portions with high prices and a waitress doing make up in a toilet. And diarrhoea at least in a 20 minutes after eating and leaving the place. Don’t recommend

Best gyros ever. We tried pork and chicken, both were great. Also hot fresh pita bread makes the experience more interesting. It makes you want to come back again only for this gyros from Turkey. Thank you. I highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious food and wine. The chargrilled chicken was so tasty, perfect with a Greek salad and tzatziki. Also came with fries and warm herby pitta bread. €41 euros including a beer and half litre of house wine. Highly recommend, the menu is extensive including traditional Greek dishes. The setting is simply beautiful, in the shadow of the famous church in Petra - a gem of a place will definitely come back

Another superb restaurant. Lovely setting on the cobbled streets in amongst trees. I had a delightful fillet mignon and my partner had the lovely mousakka. A wonderful place. Had the amazing Pork souvlaki 2 nights ago.

We came here as advised by a local; drive from Mythiline. We have tried many gyros and this is one of top theee. Amazing with Nissiopi local beer. A must try and eat!

The food was excellent, pita was fresh ans delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. We got a pita wrap kalameri & the meat mix grill- and it was fantastic. The server was not at all friendly and very curt with us.... there was another server with other tables who was kind but ours was not. They gave us a little cake as a surprise and it was light, sweet and delicious. Lots of cats hanging around here tho (more than I've seen elsewhere) and so I had some bites on my legs from insects. I'd likely not sit on the cushions next time.....
