My favourite place in Petra hands down. We have tried their moussakka, gyros, pork and chicken souvlaki, grilled veggies.. all of them were delicious and the atmosphere of the place is the cherry on top of the cake!

Nascosto nel cuore di Petra, Kalderimi prende il nome dagli antichi sentieri lastricati che un tempo collegavano i villaggi di Lesbo, e quello spirito di tradizione senza fretta pervade tutto ciò che il luogo offre. Petra stessa è una delle destinazioni più amate dell’isola, dominata dall’imponente roccia vulcanica che si erge drammaticamente dal centro del villaggio e coronata dalla chiesa di Panagia Glykofiloussa. In questo scenario, Kalderimi funge da punto di ritrovo naturale per visitatori e abitanti del luogo, offrendo cibo, bevande e quel tipo di ospitalità semplice per cui l’Egeo è famoso.
Una sosta da Kalderimi è tanto una questione di atmosfera quanto di ciò che arriva in tavola. Il nome evoca la grana della vecchia Lesbo – vicoli acciottolati a mano, muri imbiancati a calce, il ritmo lento della vita di villaggio – e un locale che porta questa identità tende ad abbracciare il carattere regionale piuttosto che allontanarsene. Aspettatevi gli autentici piaceri di un esercizio greco ben gestito: ouzo e tsipouro locali, forse mezedes a chilometro zero, e caffè al ritmo che il pomeriggio richiede.
Per i visitatori che esplorano la zona di Petra dopo essere saliti alla chiesa sulla collina o aver passeggiato per l’elegante dimora ottomana di Vareltzidaina lì vicino, Kalderimi offre un gradito rifugio per riposarsi e fare il punto. Rappresenta ciò che è più affascinante del viaggio a Lesbo – la sensazione che l’isola non abbia barattato la sua anima con la comodità, e che i momenti migliori qui siano quelli senza fretta.

Ci si ritrova spesso a trattenersi molto più del previsto — un bicchiere di tsipouro, qualche mezes e la luce pomeridiana sulle pietre del villaggio fanno scorrere il tempo senza fretta. Kalderimi si trova nel cuore di Petra, nel flusso naturale della vita del paese, tra residenti del posto e visitatori in sosta dopo la salita alla chiesa sulla roccia.
Periodo migliore
Da aprile a ottobre è il periodo migliore; le serate estive sono animate, mentre la primavera e l'autunno offrono un'atmosfera più tranquilla.
Come arrivare
Petra si trova a circa un'ora di guida a nord di Mitilene lungo la strada principale verso la costa settentrionale; Kalderimi è nel centro del villaggio, facile da raggiungere a piedi dopo aver parcheggiato.

Please do not leave Petra without coming to this restaurant!!!! The food is absolutely amazing. I highly recommend the fillet mignon, cooked to perfection, so tender and juicy. The staff are so friendly and accommodating. We ate out at several restaurants but this was by far our favourite place so much so we ate here 3 times!! An absolute must you will not be disappointed.

Everything was perfect. We had pita bread, tzatziki, grilled vegetable and chicken gyros plate. Portions are generous and the food is delicious. They also have a lovely garden area where you can dine or you can take a gyros in pita bread to go. Thank you!

We read good opinions and were totally disappointed after visiting. Sarcastic waiter’s answers and comments, cold meat in hot giros, lamb souvlaki with blood, small portions with high prices and a waitress doing make up in a toilet. And diarrhoea at least in a 20 minutes after eating and leaving the place. Don’t recommend

Best gyros ever. We tried pork and chicken, both were great. Also hot fresh pita bread makes the experience more interesting. It makes you want to come back again only for this gyros from Turkey. Thank you. I highly recommend.

Absolutely delicious food and wine. The chargrilled chicken was so tasty, perfect with a Greek salad and tzatziki. Also came with fries and warm herby pitta bread. €41 euros including a beer and half litre of house wine. Highly recommend, the menu is extensive including traditional Greek dishes. The setting is simply beautiful, in the shadow of the famous church in Petra - a gem of a place will definitely come back

Another superb restaurant. Lovely setting on the cobbled streets in amongst trees. I had a delightful fillet mignon and my partner had the lovely mousakka. A wonderful place. Had the amazing Pork souvlaki 2 nights ago.

We came here as advised by a local; drive from Mythiline. We have tried many gyros and this is one of top theee. Amazing with Nissiopi local beer. A must try and eat!

The food was excellent, pita was fresh ans delicious. The meat was tender and juicy. We got a pita wrap kalameri & the meat mix grill- and it was fantastic. The server was not at all friendly and very curt with us.... there was another server with other tables who was kind but ours was not. They gave us a little cake as a surprise and it was light, sweet and delicious. Lots of cats hanging around here tho (more than I've seen elsewhere) and so I had some bites on my legs from insects. I'd likely not sit on the cushions next time.....
