Annidato sul bordo dell'acqua a Skala Polichnitou, un tranquillo villaggio di pescatori sulla riva meridionale del Golfo di Kalloni, Ψαροταβέρνα Το Λιμάνι — la taverna di pesce del porto — è il tipo di luogo che incarna tutto ciò che un'esperienza di pesce greca dovrebbe essere. Il Golfo di Kalloni è una delle zone di pesca più produttive dell'Egeo, rinomato per le sue sardine e una ricca varietà di pescato locale, e questa taverna attinge direttamente da tale abbondanza. I pescatori che lavorano dal piccolo porto portano il loro pescato quotidianamente, il che significa che il menu riflette ciò che il mare ha offerto piuttosto che ciò che un magazzino ha spedito. Mangiare qui significa sistemarsi a un tavolo con vista sull'acqua, probabilmente condividendo la terrazza con famiglie locali e qualche pescatore che conclude la giornata. Aspettatevi una cucina semplice e genuina — pesce alla griglia condito con olio d'oliva e limone, polpo fresco appeso ad asciugare al sole prima di essere messo sulla griglia, cozze del golfo e bianchetti fritti serviti con ouzo ghiacciato o vino locale. L'atmosfera è rilassata e genuinamente locale, lontana dalle taverne lucidate per il turismo delle località più affollate. La stessa Skala Polichnitou attira visitatori diretti alle vicine sorgenti termali terapeutiche di Polichnitos, e molti trovano in questo modesto porto il luogo perfetto per soffermarsi con un lungo pranzo prima o dopo i bagni. Per i viaggiatori in cerca di un autentico assaggio della vita costiera lesbica lontano dalla folla, To Limani offre qualcosa di sempre più raro: un pasto in cui la semplicità degli ingredienti e l'onestà dell'ambiente fanno tutto il lavoro. La combinazione del pescato eccezionale del golfo, del ritmo rilassato del villaggio e della posizione della taverna direttamente sul porto lo rendono un motivo impellente per avventurarsi fuori dalla strada principale e scendere fino all'acqua.

Cosa aspettarsi
Il terrazzo si affaccia direttamente sul piccolo porticciolo, con le barche dei pescatori a pochi metri e la brezza salmastra del Golfo di Kalloni che accompagna ogni pasto. In tavola arrivano il pescato del mattino alla griglia, le cozze del golfo, il polpo essiccato al sole e la frittura di pesciolini — tutto preparato con semplicità e materie prime di giornata. Pescatori e famiglie del posto occupano la maggior parte dei tavoli, conferendo al pranzo il sapore autentico di un rituale quotidiano.
Periodo migliore
Da fine maggio a settembre è il periodo ideale; giugno e settembre offrono clima splendido con meno affollamento rispetto a luglio e agosto.
Come arrivare
Da Mitilene si procede verso sud-ovest in direzione di Kalloni, poi si scende verso la costa fino a Skala Polichnitou; il percorso richiede circa 45-55 minuti di guida.

There is no menu, so you don't know the prices...! Your cold comes at the end, when you pay 14€ for a portion of fried squid and 9€ for a carafe of ouzo!! Quite by chance, the POS doesn't work, so you have to pay with cash and of course no receipt is issued!! It's just a piece of paper from a notebook, it says what you got and how much you paid... Okay, mockery as much as it can go... Let it be known, I was on vacation and didn't want to spoil my mood, otherwise this whole thing wouldn't have happened like this!! Of course I won't go again...! And I see from the comments, that the same thing has happened to others!! The fact that the griller is walking around the kitchen without a shirt and that hair and sweat can be found on your plate, is a concern for...!! I'm about to run away next year with a shopping mall and a health insurance policy...!! Let's see...

The geese that roam the tables and the resident cats create a great atmosphere. The food is average. The sardines were supposed to be grilled, but I got them swimming in fat. The Greek salad was the same as everywhere. My son ordered the chicken fillet – good, nothing special. The service was nice, but you have to ask for the bill.
