Wonderful place, by the sea! All the dishes we chose were very tasty and fresh! Highlight of appetizers: fried zucchini (the best we have ever eaten). We will definitely come back! Try the tuna!

About
Nestled at the water's edge in Skala Polichnitou, a quiet fishing settlement on the southern shore of the Gulf of Kalloni, Ψαροταβέρνα Το Λιμάνι — The Harbor Fish Tavern — is the kind of place that embodies everything a Greek seafood experience should be. The Gulf of Kalloni is one of the most productive fishing grounds in the Aegean, renowned for its sardines and a rich variety of local catch, and this taverna draws directly from that bounty. Fishermen working out of the small harbour bring in their haul daily, meaning the menu reflects what the sea has offered rather than what a warehouse has shipped.
Dining here means pulling up a chair within sight of the water, likely sharing the terrace with local families and the occasional fisherman wrapping up the day. Expect straightforward, honest cooking — grilled fish seasoned with olive oil and lemon, fresh octopus hung to dry in the sun before hitting the grill, mussels from the gulf, and fried whitebait served with ice-cold ouzo or local wine. The atmosphere is unhurried and genuinely local, far from the tourist-polished tavernas of busier resorts. Skala Polichnitou itself draws visitors heading to the nearby therapeutic hot springs at Polichnitos, and many find this modest harbour the perfect place to linger over a long lunch before or after the baths.
For travellers seeking an authentic taste of Lesbian coastal life away from the crowds, To Limani offers something increasingly rare: a meal where the simplicity of the ingredients and the honesty of the setting do all the work. The combination of the gulf's exceptional seafood, the village's unhurried pace, and the taverna's position right at the harbour makes it a compelling reason to venture off the main road and down to the water.
Before you go
What to expect
The terrace sits right at the edge of the small harbour, close enough to watch the fishing boats rock and catch the salt breeze off the Gulf of Kalloni. Food arrives simply prepared — grilled fish from the morning's catch, gulf mussels, whitebait with ouzo, octopus that has spent the day drying in the sun — honest cooking where the quality of the ingredients does the work. Local families and fishermen fill most of the tables, giving the meal the feel of a shared daily ritual rather than a dining-out occasion.
Best time to visit
Late May through September; June and September offer the same fine weather with a noticeably quieter harbour than the peak summer weeks.
How to get there
From Mytilene, head southwest toward Kalloni then continue south to the coast — the drive takes roughly 45 to 55 minutes. Skala Polichnitou is at the end of a short road that drops down from the main village to the waterfront.

There is no menu, so you don't know the prices...! Your cold comes at the end, when you pay 14€ for a portion of fried squid and 9€ for a carafe of ouzo!! Quite by chance, the POS doesn't work, so you have to pay with cash and of course no receipt is issued!! It's just a piece of paper from a notebook, it says what you got and how much you paid... Okay, mockery as much as it can go... Let it be known, I was on vacation and didn't want to spoil my mood, otherwise this whole thing wouldn't have happened like this!! Of course I won't go again...! And I see from the comments, that the same thing has happened to others!! The fact that the griller is walking around the kitchen without a shirt and that hair and sweat can be found on your plate, is a concern for...!! I'm about to run away next year with a shopping mall and a health insurance policy...!! Let's see...

The geese that roam the tables and the resident cats create a great atmosphere. The food is average. The sardines were supposed to be grilled, but I got them swimming in fat. The Greek salad was the same as everywhere. My son ordered the chicken fillet – good, nothing special. The service was nice, but you have to ask for the bill.

This food here speaks for itself. All the ingredients are locally sourced and fresh. On top of that you are treated as an old friend. I’m definitely planning to go there again, and again, and again.

I’ve been there for three times in our one week stay in Lesvos. The food is very good, fish is fresh. I would definetly recommend this place. The owner is very kind with extreme hospitality. I was honoured with my favorite song in live music. I appreciate.

Perfectly cooked sardines and kalamari, very generous portions, great value for money. What more could one want?
