Het Limenarchio is het administratieve zenuwcentrum dat dit alles in goede banen leidt. Het gebouw weerspiegelt de gelaagde geschiedenis van de waterkant en maakt deel uit van een havenwijk die is gevormd door Ottomaanse handel, Grieks staatsbestuur en de ritmes van het eilandleven die in hun kern nauwelijks zijn veranderd.
Voor bezoekers is het Limenarchio minder een bestemming op zich dan een ankerpunt om het karakter van de waterkant van Mytilini te doorgronden. Wie per veerboot aankomt of van plan is te vertrekken naar nabijgelegen eilanden als Chios of de Turkse kust, kan hier terecht voor de praktische formaliteiten en vaartijden die gelden voor inter-eilandse en internationale overvaarten. De omliggende havenboulevard, met zijn cafés, vistaveernes en de voortdurende bedrijvigheid van aan- en afvarende boten, maakt deze hoek van de waterkant tot een van de levendigste van de stad. De lucht draagt er zout en diesel, het geluid van tuigage en de roep van vissers die terugkeren met hun ochtendbuit.
Of u nu uw verdere reis regelt of u simpelweg laat meevoeren door de sfeer van een Grieks werkend havengebied, de omgeving van het Limenarchio biedt een authentieke blik op het logistieke en sociale weefsel van het eilandleven. Wat u kunt verwachten
Rondom het Havenmeesterskantoor ademt alles de sfeer van een echte werkende haven — vissers die vroeg in de ochtend hun vangst lossen, veerbootpassagiers die de uithangbordjes met dienstregelingen bestuderen, de geur van zeewater en diesel vermengd met koffie uit de naburige cafés. De administratieve hartslag van het eilandse zeeleven speelt zich hier zichtbaar voor iedereen af.
Beste tijd om te gaan
De kade is het levendigst van april tot begin oktober, wanneer de veerbootverbindingen naar omliggende eilanden op volle toeren draaien en de vistavernes langs de boulevard open zijn.
Hoe er te komen
Het Havenmeesterskantoor ligt direct aan de havenkade van Mytilini, op loopafstand van de veerbotenterminal — zoek het officiële gebouw met uitzicht op het water, bij de gemeerde vissersbootjes.

If you arrived by car, you first park the vehicle in the area indicated by the officer. Then all passengers go through passport control in the same order. After passport control, pedestrian passengers enter Mytilene. For passengers arriving by car, the driver is directed to an officer with their green insurance, passport, and vehicle registration. After the officer gives approval, they go to the vehicle with an approval card, the customs officer checks the vehicle, and if there are no problems, entry is granted.

Excellent hospitality, the police officers who arrested me were polite and good at their job. We played 80s disco music during the deposition, which helped me a lot to overcome the stress of the case. The process ended with summary procedures, while my only complaint is the lack of patience to wash off the fingerprint ink before the kids chased me away, resulting in me having to do it at home with soap, which was quite time-consuming. I highly recommend it as the best place to get arrested even though I don't have much experience. My greetings to the kids, unfortunately they won't see me again because I'm now within the law. Good freedom.

The ferries from Ayvalik Turkey arrive at this port. At least 3 ferries arrive at the same time and suddenly a long line appears for customs control. Once you enter the building it is well maintained with ACs and seats. There are at least 3 counters for passport control, which speeds up the clearance process.
