Stratos Market is een buurtwinkel die de kustgemeenschap van Anaxos bedient, een van de populairste badplaatsen aan de noordkust van Lesbos. Gelegen vlak bij het lange zandstrand dat gedurende het zomerseizoen bezoekers trekt, biedt de winkel een praktische en gastvrije tussenstop voor strandgangers, kampeerders en reizigers die door het gebied trekken. De schappen zijn gevuld met alledaagse benodigdheden, verse producten, koude dranken en lokale levensmiddelen, waardoor het een onmisbare bron is voor wie in de omliggende dorpen of vakantieaccommodaties verblijft. Wat een buurtmarkt als Stratos onderscheidt van grotere supermarkten, is het karakter en de persoonlijke service. De uitbaters van deze kleine Griekse zaken kennen hun vaste klanten vaak bij naam en kunnen bezoekers wijzen op lokale producten die het proeven waard zijn, of dat nu een fles olijfolie van Lesbos is, lokaal geproduceerde ouzo, of ingemaakte olijven uit de eeuwenoude olijfgaarden van het eiland. Voor reizigers die liever zelf koken of gewoon hun voorraad moeten aanvullen na een lange dag op het strand, biedt Stratos Market het gemak van de nabijheid zonder dat u naar een grotere stad hoeft te rijden. Anaxos zelf is een ontspannen, kindvriendelijk vakantiedorp en de winkel weerspiegelt het rustige levensritme hier. Binnenlopen maakt evenzeer deel uit van de authentieke lokale ervaring als het strand zelf, en biedt een glimp van de dagelijkse handel die deze kustgemeenschappen het hele jaar door draaiende houdt. Wat u kunt verwachten
Binnen vindt u gekoelde dranken voor het strand en schappen vol Lesbische olijfolie, eilandolijven en dagelijkse boodschappen. Het personeel kent het dorp goed en kan u wijzen op lokale producten die u in een supermarktketen niet vindt. Een snelle boodschap loopt hier soms uit op een vriendelijk gesprek over wat u in de buurt moet zien of proeven.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Het meest nuttig van juni tot september, wanneer het strand van Anaxos volloopt met bezoekers en de vraag naar koude dranken en proviand het grootst is.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini rijdt u noordwaarts richting Kalloni en volgt u daarna de borden naar Petra en Anaxos; de rit duurt ongeveer 50 tot 60 minuten. De winkel ligt in het dorp, vlak bij het strand.

During our stay in Anaxos, we discovered a real gem — Stratos Market — and it quickly became our favorite place to shop. From the very first visit, we felt welcomed. The owner, Stratos, is incredibly kind and helpful — always smiling and ready to assist. One day, he even gifted us a small bottle of local wine just because! It was such a thoughtful gesture and showed his true hospitality. The store itself is well-stocked with everything you need: groceries, drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables, local delicacies, cosmetics, and souvenirs. We especially recommend trying the feta and olives sold by weight — they’re authentic and delicious. Prices are very reasonable, often lower than in other nearby shops — something many other travelers also noted. Everything is fresh, clean, and well organized. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. There’s even a friendly dog named Lucek often lying near the entrance, loved by both locals and tourists. Stratos Market is more than just a shop — it’s a place full of heart, friendliness, and real Greek charm. We highly recommend it!

Stratos and his cat-pal Stefanos have been the highlight of our trip to Anaxos♥️ We felt safe and knew that we would get the fair price and only the best local products. To be completely honest Stratos might as well have the best prices in the area and his charm and humour never failed to uplift the spirits. We would love to come back again and pay a visit to Stratos and his wonderful store which has literally everything and more than you ever need. 10/10

Elena and Stratos, very nice people,very helpfull, we felt very welcome. The products are very good quality, especially the local one's. I recomand the local olive oil, the incredible yougurt, home made baklava etc. You must meet the star of the store Stefanos🙂

Stratos is the best supermarket in Anaxos. It has everything and the owner is such a wonderful man that we came every day. Great products from Lesvos including home olive oil, olives, feta cheese, yogurt. You absolutely must go in and Stratos will let you try and advise you on what is best. It is the most wonderful shop in the world!

Wide selection of good quality goods. Very good feta and olive oil. Local vegetable and fruits. The owner is a very nice person, he allows to sample the local produce.
