About
Stratos Market is a local convenience store serving the coastal community of Anaxos, one of the most popular seaside spots on the northern coast of Lesvos. Situated close to the long sandy beach that draws visitors throughout the summer season, the market provides a practical and welcoming stop for beachgoers, campers, and travellers passing through the area. Shelves stocked with everyday essentials, fresh produce, cold drinks, and local pantry staples make it an indispensable resource for those staying in the surrounding villages or rental accommodation.
What sets a neighbourhood market like Stratos apart from larger supermarkets is its character and personal service. Shopkeepers in these small Greek establishments often know their regular customers by name and can point visitors toward local products worth trying, whether that means a bottle of Lesvos olive oil, locally produced ouzo, or preserved olives from the island's ancient groves. For travellers who prefer to prepare their own meals or simply need to restock supplies after a long day at the beach, Stratos Market offers the convenience of proximity without requiring a drive into a larger town.
Anaxos itself is a relaxed, family-friendly resort village, and the market reflects the unhurried rhythm of life here. Stopping in is as much a part of the authentic local experience as the beach itself, offering a glimpse into the everyday commerce that sustains these coastal communities year-round. Whether you are picking up water and snacks before settling onto the sand or sourcing ingredients for an evening meal, Stratos Market earns its place as a reliable and friendly fixture of the Anaxos waterfront.
Before you go
What to expect
Step inside and you'll find chilled drinks ready for the beach alongside shelves stocked with Lesvos olive oil, island olives, and pantry basics. The staff know the village well and can point you toward local products worth picking up that you won't find in a chain supermarket. A quick shop here often turns into a friendly exchange about where to swim or eat.
Best time to visit
Most useful from June through September when Anaxos beach fills with visitors and demand for cold drinks and fresh supplies is at its highest.
How to get there
From Mytilene, drive north toward Kalloni then follow signs for Petra and Anaxos; expect roughly 50 to 60 minutes on the road. The market sits in the village close to the beachfront.

During our stay in Anaxos, we discovered a real gem — Stratos Market — and it quickly became our favorite place to shop. From the very first visit, we felt welcomed. The owner, Stratos, is incredibly kind and helpful — always smiling and ready to assist. One day, he even gifted us a small bottle of local wine just because! It was such a thoughtful gesture and showed his true hospitality. The store itself is well-stocked with everything you need: groceries, drinks, fresh fruits and vegetables, local delicacies, cosmetics, and souvenirs. We especially recommend trying the feta and olives sold by weight — they’re authentic and delicious. Prices are very reasonable, often lower than in other nearby shops — something many other travelers also noted. Everything is fresh, clean, and well organized. The atmosphere is warm and relaxed. There’s even a friendly dog named Lucek often lying near the entrance, loved by both locals and tourists. Stratos Market is more than just a shop — it’s a place full of heart, friendliness, and real Greek charm. We highly recommend it!

Stratos and his cat-pal Stefanos have been the highlight of our trip to Anaxos♥️ We felt safe and knew that we would get the fair price and only the best local products. To be completely honest Stratos might as well have the best prices in the area and his charm and humour never failed to uplift the spirits. We would love to come back again and pay a visit to Stratos and his wonderful store which has literally everything and more than you ever need. 10/10

Stratos is the best supermarket in Anaxos. It has everything and the owner is such a wonderful man that we came every day. Great products from Lesvos including home olive oil, olives, feta cheese, yogurt. You absolutely must go in and Stratos will let you try and advise you on what is best. It is the most wonderful shop in the world!
