Gelegen aan de rand van de Egeïsche Zee, waar het dorp Tarti de zee ontmoet, is Tarti Beach Taverna een van die ongedwongen plekken die het ritme van een zomer op een Grieks eiland bepalen. Net als de beste eetgelegenheden aan de kust van Lesbos, bevindt het zich op het ideale punt tussen eenvoud en voldoening — een plek waar u een stoel kunt pakken op een paar stappen van het water, een karaf lokale wijn kunt bestellen en de middag volledig kunt laten vervagen. De kaart leunt op de zee en het seizoen: vers gevangen vis, gegrilde octopus en mezedes die belonen voor langzaam eten en goed gezelschap.
Wat een tussenstop hier de moeite waard maakt, gaat verder dan het eten. De noordoostkust van Lesbos is rustiger en minder toeristisch dan de badplaatsen elders in de Egeïsche Zee, en Tarti zelf behoudt een echt lokaal karakter. Eten bij de taverna plaatst u midden in die wereld in plaats van ernaast — omringd door vissersboten, de geur van zilte lucht en uitzicht op de Turkse kust die u eraan herinneren hoe ver u in het oostelijke Middellandse Zeegebied bent gereisd. Het is het soort maaltijd dat lang in het geheugen blijft hangen, lang nadat het bord is afgeruimd.

Wat u kunt verwachten
De tafels staan vlak aan het water, op steenworp afstand van de afgemeerde vissersbootjes. De keuken werkt met wat de zee die dag te bieden heeft — gegrilde vis, octopus en mezedes om rustig te delen — terwijl uw blik naar het oosten reikt, richting de Turkse kust.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Het einde van het voorjaar en de vroege herfst zijn het aangenaamst; in juli en augustus is het drukker, dus kom vroeg als u een tafel aan het water wilt.
Hoe er te komen
Vanuit Mytilini volgt u de noordoostelijke kustweg richting Tarti; de rit duurt ongeveer 20 tot 25 minuten en brengt u rechtstreeks naar de waterkant van het dorp.

Fresh octopus and squid. Salads taste like salads and not cardboard. Also the portions are proper portions, not just a few bites to nibble on. It's right next to the sea, which allows you to grab a bite after going for a swim. I will definitely be coming back.

If you want to feel the true spirit of the Aegean, this is the place to be! The natural charm of the venue, the attentive service, and the exquisite Greek cuisine made for an unforgettable day. Very nice beach with a beautiful sea and delicious food. 5 people, ate a lot of food, drank ouzos, beers etc and paid only 54 euros. Waooow! Will go there again absolutely

This tavern has great prices and amazing views. Beautiful beach is just 2 meters away from your table. For a beer, big bottle of water and two sets of food (meat + fish) we paid only 30€ which seems like nothing compared to the amount of fantastic food we received.

Loved this Greek taverna! We came to Tarti Beach four different times and every time ate at this hidden gem. The service was always a bit slow but that is because they were always crazy busy, every table was packed full of people. Everything we ordered was fantastic, minus the fries. The fries were always a bit disappointing but we didn't go there for them so it didn't matter. I loved the cheese pie, cooked greens, beans and fried zucchini flowers ad well as the Greek salad. Great prices and fantastic food!

Classical beach taverna with reasonable prices and good food options. Christal clear cold water. We liked the natural beach, very calm. Make sure to go early since you may not find available sun-beds.
