Balouchanas is een visrestaurant in Perama, een rustig kustdorp aan de zuidelijke oever van de Golf van Kalloni. De golf zelf is een van de meest productieve visgronden van de Egeïsche Zee, vooral bekend om zijn befaamde Kalloni-sardines — een product dat zo hoog gewaardeerd wordt dat het een beschermde oorsprongsbenaming draagt. Een taverna in dit décor ontleent haar karakter rechtstreeks aan de zee en biedt eenvoudig bereide, onwaarschijnlijk verse zeevruchten zoals die de beste Griekse kustkeuken kenmerken.
Gasten mogen een menukaart verwachten die draait om de vangst van de dag: gegrilde vis, gefrituurde calamares en lokale zeevruchtenmeze, aangevuld met de onmisbare Kalloni-sardines, het lekkerst genoten licht gezouten of gegrild op houtskool op de traditionele manier. Het ongehaaste ritme van Perama, gecombineerd met het kalme golfwater dat vanuit het dorp zichtbaar is, maakt een maaltijd hier tot een echte rustpauze op de route, en niet zomaar een tussenstop. Voor bezoekers die het Kalloni-bekken verkennen of er doorheen rijden op weg naar het binnenland van het eiland, biedt Balouchanas een proeve van het kustleven op Lesbos in zijn meest authentieke vorm.

Wat u kunt verwachten
Bij Balouchanas kijkt u uit over de rustige wateren van de Golf van Kalloni, van waaruit elke ochtend de boten vertrekken die de keuken bevoorraden. De kaart volgt de vangst van de dag: vers gegrilde of gebakken vis, inktvis en de befaamde Kalloni-sardines, licht gezouten of gegrild op houtskool. Het trage tempo van Perama maakt dit meer dan een tussenstop — het voelt als een echte pauze aan het water.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Eind april tot september is de beste periode; midden in de zomer is het warm, maar de golfbries zorgt voor verkoeling.
Hoe er te komen
Perama ligt ongeveer 15 minuten rijden van Mytilini, via de kustweg westwaarts langs de Golf van Kalloni. Het ligt op een logische route als u naar Kalloni of het binnenland van het eiland rijdt.

It's cozy here, with a beautiful view of the Bay of Gera. The food is good, but sometimes the food wasn't really warm (this could also be because it was very busy due to a public holiday, hence the 4 stars). If you're in the area, you'll definitely eat there at least once, even if you drive there specifically to eat there (which we did this time, but I wouldn't do it again).

Everything we ate was below average. Calamari was burnt and pricier at the bill than their menu. Even Greek Salad was tasteless, not recommended!

Very friendly family run fish taverna that offers delicious food! Everything we had was excellent, the highlights were the fava with sweet caramelized onion, the very tender fried sepia and the tiganitelia (a bit similar to zucchini balls but also containing zucchini flowers). Also beautiful location and very appealing interior design with lots of driftwood and plants. Very fair prices! Definitely recommended if you happen to visit Perama.

This is an inexpensive tavern in the village of Perama in Lesvos. The food is mostly from the sea, but there are some interesting meat dishes like meatballs. The cuisine is local with fresh ingredients. The location is fantastic, right by the sea On the minus side: today, there was a group of tourists, place was packed and service was extremely slow. Clearly, it's understaffed. We had to wait for our lunch for 45 minutes. Maybe it was a coincidence and it happened only once, but it costs the place one star..

Nice little place at the harbour with full panoramic view of the bay. Good prices and more than enough to choose from. They offer lots of fish but also meat. The baclava was especially tasteful.
