Χωμένο κατά μήκος της ήσυχης ακτογραμμής κοντά στον μικρό παραθαλάσσιο οικισμό της Αλυφάδας, το Αλμπατρός είναι μια τοπική επιχείρηση που διευθύνει ο Εμμανουήλ Καριώτης, φέρνοντας τη χαρακτηριστική ζεστασιά μιας οικογενειακής επιχείρησης που έχει αναπτυχθεί φυσικά μέσα από το περιβάλλον της. Το όνομα — που παραπέμπει στο μεγαλειώδες θαλασσοπούλι που αιωρείται αβίαστα πάνω από τα ανοιχτά νερά — υπαινίσσεται το ναυτικό πνεύμα αυτής της γωνιάς της βόρειας ακτής της Λέσβου, όπου η θάλασσα σπάνια λείπει από το οπτικό πεδίο και ο ρυθμός της ζωής κινείται στο μέτρο των παλιρροιών.
Όσοι επισκέπτονται αυτό το τμήμα του νησιού συχνά νιώθουν ευγνωμοσύνη για τον τύπο επιχείρησης που εκπροσωπεί το Αλμπατρός: έναν τόπο ριζωμένο στην τοπική κοινότητα και όχι στον τουρισμό, όπου η υποδοχή αισθάνεται ειλικρινής και ατάραχη. Είτε περνάτε από εδώ κατά τη διάρκεια μιας βόλτας κατά μήκος της ακτής, είτε εξερευνάτε τα χωριά που στολίζουν τους ενδοχώρους λόφους πάνω από την Αλυφάδα, είτε απλώς αναζητάτε μια στιγμή ηρεμίας δίπλα στο νερό, μια στάση εδώ σας δίνει την ευκαιρία να έρθετε σε επαφή με την καθημερινή ζωή μιας Λέσβου που υπάρχει πέρα από τα χαρτογραφημένα μονοπάτια των μεγάλων θερέτρων.
Το γύρω τοπίο με τους χαμηλούς λόφους, τους ελαιώνες και την ανοιχτή έκταση του Αιγαίου χαρίζουν σε αυτή τη γωνιά του νησιού μια ιδιαίτερη γαλήνη. Το Αλμπατρός εντάσσεται φυσικά σε αυτό το σκηνικό — ο τύπος του μέρους που οι ντόπιοι γνωρίζουν ονομαστικά και οι ταξιδιώτες θυμούνται πολύ αφού φύγουν, όχι για κάποιο μεγαλειώδες θέαμα, αλλά για την απλή, ειλικρινή φιλοξενία που κάνει τη Λέσβο ένα τόσο αξιόλογο νησί για να την εξερευνάς αργά και με τους δικούς της όρους.

Η θάλασσα είναι εδώ συνεχώς παρούσα — ορατή και αισθητή από κάθε γωνιά, με τους χαμηλούς λόφους και τα ελαιόδεντρα της Αλυφάδας να πλαισιώνουν το τοπίο. Το Albatros έχει το χαρακτήρα τοπικής επιχείρησης που εξυπηρετεί πρωτίστως τους κατοίκους της γύρω περιοχής, κι έτσι η ατμόσφαιρα παραμένει ήρεμη και η φιλοξενία αυθεντική. Είναι ακριβώς το είδος της στάσης που θυμάται κανείς όχι για κάποιο θέαμα, αλλά για την αίσθηση ότι βρίσκεται κάπου πραγματικό.
Καλύτερη εποχή
Από τα τέλη της άνοιξης έως τις αρχές του φθινοπώρου είναι η ιδανική εποχή· η αιγαιοπελαγίτικη αύρα κάνει ακόμα και τον Ιούλιο και τον Αύγουστο ευχάριστους.
Πώς θα φτάσετε
Το Albatros βρίσκεται μόλις περίπου ένα χιλιόμετρο από το κέντρο της Μυτιλήνης, κατά μήκος της παραλιακής ζώνης κοντά στην Αλυφάδα — μικρή βόλτα με αυτοκίνητο ή ακόμα και με τα πόδια από το λιμάνι.

I recently bought a beach chair that didn't fit us, we didn't use it and after a phone call, we agreed to return it and buy something else! (It should be noted that the chair was out of the windshield when I bought it) The owner flatly refused my return, claiming that I had used it and that I had damaged it! Finally, after my father's earnest request, they changed it and we got something else! I have been a customer for years, my father and my friends. They have taken a lot of money from us and our friends! However, their behavior was not professional at all and I am very sorry! This is not how they treat long-term customers! Update: Instead of apologizing, they are even more sarcastic! Well, I am very sorry for the cooperation for so many years and the appreciation for your store. Be well! The worst service. They sold cheap stuff that they sold for serious equipment. Most of it was broken and when we asked for a refund to exchange the product they refused and told us "these things happen". The worst!
