Verscholen langs de rustige kustlijn bij het kleine kustplaatsje Alyfada, is Albatros een lokale zaak van Emmanouil Kariotis, doordrenkt van de kenmerkende warmte van een familiebedrijf dat organisch uit zijn omgeving is gegroeid. De naam — die doet denken aan de grote zeevogel die moeiteloos over open water zweeft — verwijst naar de maritieme geest van dit deel van de noordkust van Lesbos, waar de zee nooit ver weg is en het leven beweegt op het ritme van de getijden.
Bezoekers van dit eilanddeel zijn vaak dankbaar voor een etablissement zoals Albatros: een plek geworteld in de plaatselijke gemeenschap en niet in het toerisme, waar de ontvangst oprecht en ongehaast aanvoelt. De zee is hier een voortdurende aanwezigheid — zichtbaar en hoorbaar vanuit elke hoek, omlijst door de lage heuvels en olijfgaarden van de Alyfada-kustlijn. Albatros wordt vaker bezocht door buurtbewoners dan door doorreizende toeristen, waardoor de sfeer ontspannen is en de ontvangst oprecht warm aanvoelt. Het is het soort plek dat u bijblijft, niet vanwege een bijzonder spektakel, maar vanwege het gevoel ergens te zijn dat echt is.
Beste tijd om te gaan
Van eind mei tot begin september is de mooiste tijd; de kustligging zorgt voor een vaste Egeïsche bries die zelfs juli en augustus aangenaam houdt.
Hoe er te komen
Albatros ligt nauwelijks een kilometer van het centrum van Mytilini, langs de kust bij Alyfada — een heel korte autorit of een prettige wandeling vanuit de haven.

I recently bought a beach chair that didn't fit us, we didn't use it and after a phone call, we agreed to return it and buy something else! (It should be noted that the chair was out of the windshield when I bought it) The owner flatly refused my return, claiming that I had used it and that I had damaged it! Finally, after my father's earnest request, they changed it and we got something else! I have been a customer for years, my father and my friends. They have taken a lot of money from us and our friends! However, their behavior was not professional at all and I am very sorry! This is not how they treat long-term customers! The worst service. They sold cheap stuff that they sold for serious equipment. Most of it was broken and when we asked for a refund to exchange the product they refused and told us "these things happen". The worst!
