About
Tucked into the relaxed waterfront atmosphere of Skala Kalloni, Diana's shop is one of those welcoming local stops that give a small Greek village its character. Skala Kalloni sits at the inner shore of the Gulf of Kalloni, a shallow, sheltered bay celebrated across Greece for its exceptional sardines and for the rich birdlife that draws ornithologists from across Europe each spring. Amid the fishing boats and waterside kafeneions, a shop like Diana's serves both the steady community of locals and the travellers passing through on their way to the salt flats, the wetlands, or the broader countryside of central Lesvos.
Visitors stopping here can expect the kind of personal service that has largely disappeared from larger tourist centres. Whether stocking up on provisions, browsing locally made goods, or simply asking for a recommendation about where to eat or what to see nearby, Diana's offers a genuine point of human contact in a village that still runs at its own unhurried pace. The area around Skala Kalloni rewards those who linger, and a visit to a neighbourhood shop is often where the real texture of a place reveals itself — in conversation, in the products on the shelves, in the easy hospitality that Lesvos extends to its guests.
Before you go
What to expect
Walking into Diana's feels like stepping into the rhythm of the village itself — shelves stocked with local goods, a proprietor who knows the area intimately, and the kind of unhurried exchange that belongs to a place where fishing boats still set out at dawn. It's a practical stop that doubles as a window into daily life on this quieter corner of Lesvos.
Best time to visit
Spring is particularly rewarding, when the Gulf of Kalloni draws birdwatchers from across Europe and the waterfront is lively without the crowds of July and August.
How to get there
From Mytilene, follow the main road west toward Kalloni, then turn south to Skala Kalloni on the shore of the gulf — allow around 40 to 50 minutes for the drive.

I popped in here because my suitcase had been delayed and I needed a change of clothes. The lady was really kind and very helpful in picking out some choices for me. Also sells jewellery and gifts, mostly way better than the usual tat you get in a tourist village.
