About

Lapsarna Beach is a quiet, unspoiled stretch of coastline tucked near the small village of Pedino in the northeastern reaches of Lesvos. Shielded from the busier tourist circuits that draw crowds to the island's more famous shores, this beach rewards those willing to venture off the beaten path with a sense of genuine solitude and natural beauty. The surrounding landscape, typical of this corner of Lesvos, is a rugged blend of olive groves and scrubland that rolls down toward a coastline where the Aegean meets the shore in crystalline shades of turquoise and deep blue.

Visitors come to Lapsarna for the kind of unhurried experience that defines the quieter side of Lesvos. The beach offers clear, calm waters well suited to swimming, and the relatively undeveloped surroundings mean the light, the silence, and the sea feel very much as they always have. It is the sort of place where you can spread out on the pebbles or coarse sand, watch the fishing boats pass in the distance, and feel far removed from the world. The nearby village of Pedino, a modest and traditional settlement, gives the area an authentic local character rarely found at more commercialised resort beaches.

For travellers exploring the lesser-known eastern interior and northern coast of Lesvos, Lapsarna makes a compelling stop — a chance to experience the island's natural coastline in an unhurried, unmediated way. Whether you are passing through on a scenic drive or seeking a full afternoon by the sea, the beach offers a tranquil counterpoint to the island's busier attractions, and a reminder of why Lesvos continues to draw visitors who value authenticity over amenity.

Before you go

What to expect

Pebbles and coarse sand give way to crystalline turquoise water that stays clear even in summer, with olive groves and scrubland rolling right down to the shore's edge. Fishing boats drift past on the horizon and little else disturbs the quiet — you spread out, swim, and let the silence do its work. The nearby village of Pedino gives the area a lived-in, local feel that resort beaches rarely offer.

Best time to visit

June through September for swimming; July and August can be hot but the beach stays noticeably uncrowded compared to more accessible parts of the island.

How to get there

Lapsarna sits in the northeastern corner of Lesvos near the village of Pedino, roughly an hour's drive from Mytilene along roads that wind through the island's interior and eastern coast — allow extra time for the bends.

A bit of a retro place, but beautiful.

Spotless beach with cool waters. Armeria trees to sit in the shade either with your towel or your means of transportation. The 7+ km of good dirt road (you don't even need a high car or 4X4) from Antissa compensates you once you arrive with the peace and tranquility of nature. The road to Liota is a slightly more difficult dirt road but not particularly demanding either. Unfortunately there is no choice for food, but there is a kiosk to sit under with your own food.
