Petras Estate
Visitors say
Amazing experience . We loved Petra’s estate. We stayed for 17 nights and everything was great. Close to town and to the beach. The daily cleaning was an added bonus. Petra is kind and caring host and super easy going. Love it
I'd seen that Petra was going to be participating in a "B&B full of love," so when I was on the island, I stopped by. Unfortunately, Petra couldn't see me because the program was filming in full swing. I would have loved to meet her.
About
Tucked into the quiet agricultural heart of Lesvos near the village of Chliara, Petras Estate embodies the rural soul of an island whose landscape has been shaped for millennia by the rhythms of farming and the land. The estate takes its name from the Greek word for stone, a fitting tribute to the rugged, sun-baked terrain of this central corner of Lesvos, where terraced hillsides, dry-stone walls, and ancient olive groves define the scenery in every direction. Here, away from the coastal crowds, the island reveals a slower, more contemplative character that rewards visitors willing to seek it out.
Estates of this kind on Lesvos typically draw on the island's deep traditions of olive cultivation and local produce, offering guests an authentic encounter with the agricultural practices that have sustained island communities for generations. Whether through olive oil tastings, farm tours, or simply the chance to wander grounds thick with gnarled olive trees and wildflowers, a visit to Petras Estate offers something increasingly rare in the Mediterranean: a genuine connection to place rather than a packaged impression of it. The surrounding countryside is ideal for gentle walks, and the sense of tranquility here stands in quiet contrast to the bustle of the coastal resorts.
For travellers who want to understand Lesvos beyond its beaches and postcard villages, Petras Estate provides a grounding experience. The interior of the island has long sustained the culture, cuisine, and character that make Lesvos distinctive within Greece, and properties like this one serve as living examples of that heritage. Stopping here means slowing down, tasting something honest, and leaving with a fuller sense of what the island truly is.
Before you go
What to expect
Stone walls, rows of ancient olive trees, and the particular stillness of the Lesvos interior set the tone from the moment you arrive. The estate offers an encounter with the island's agricultural backbone — olive oil, terraced hillsides, the unhurried pace of land that has been worked for generations. It's the kind of visit that gives the rest of your trip context.
Best time to visit
Late spring (May–June) and early autumn (September–October) are the best times — the countryside is alive with colour or dipped in harvest gold, and the heat is still bearable.
How to get there
The estate sits in the western interior of Lesvos near Chliara, roughly 1.5 hours by car from Mytilene. A rental car is essentially required — public transport does not reach this part of the island.

Just returned from 6 wonderful days on Levbos and our stay at Petras Estate was in one word: fantastic! ✨ A beautifully furnished cottage fully equipped with all amenities, even with a private jacuzzi! The location between nature (even spotted a fox) and the charming village is ideal. We found complete peace here. Lovely to be able to walk straight from here to the beach and the cozy restaurants. The perfect base for this beautiful island. Highly recommended! 👌🏻💙

Staying at Petra's houses was relaxing and luxurious. The homes are built from stone to a highly modern standard and offer a spacious layout for our family of 3. Set up for self catering with a full kitchen. Petra and her staff were fantastic hosts. The plunge pool was always a welcome activity after the beach. Located a short walk from one of Europe's best beaches and the village of Skala Eresou, which offers a great combination of typical Greek and a liberated international visitor crowd. We stayed a week, and miss it already. Helps to have a car and explore Lesvos, an authentic Greek island that has plenty of room and character compared to the more popular islands.

Here you will find the total “old Ibiza feeling”. Lots of privacy and wonderfully quiet on the edge of the village, a 5-minute walk to the beach, and 10 minutes to the village center. Beautiful style of the apartment with 2 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. Greece as Greece is meant to be. Authentic and not mass-market. Beautiful!
