About
Tucked into the charming port town of Plomari on Lesvos's southern coast, emBEERies coffee bistro offers a welcoming retreat for travellers exploring what is widely considered the ouzo capital of Greece. The name itself hints at a dual personality — part coffee house, part beer bar — and the bistro leans into this identity with a relaxed, convivial atmosphere that makes it easy to linger well past a single drink. Whether you arrive in the morning for a strong Greek coffee before wandering Plomari's waterfront lanes or stop in the afternoon for a cold local beer after visiting the nearby Varvayiannis ouzo distillery, emBEERies adapts comfortably to the rhythm of your day.
The bistro's character sits somewhere between a neighbourhood local and a traveller-friendly hangout, the kind of place where conversation flows as easily as the drinks. A thoughtful selection of coffees, refreshments, and beers gives visitors an alternative to the ouzo-and-meze trail that Plomari is famous for, without ever losing the easy-going spirit that defines life in this southern Aegean town. Light bites and snacks round out the offering, making it a practical as well as pleasurable stop. For visitors spending a day or more in Plomari — exploring its traditional stone architecture, pebble beaches, and legendary distilleries — emBEERies provides exactly the kind of unpretentious, comfortable base that a good bistro should.
Before you go
What to expect
emBEERies sits at the edge of Plomari's small harbour, the kind of place where you set your bag down and stay longer than intended. Its split personality — careful coffee in the morning, cold beer by afternoon — means it slots neatly into any hour of the day, whether you are waking up before a walk through the town's stone lanes or cooling off after the nearby Varvayiannis distillery. The atmosphere is genuinely unhurried, with the easy back-and-forth of a neighbourhood local rather than a tourist stop.
Best time to visit
Open through the main tourist season; late spring and early autumn bring the most comfortable temperatures for sitting outside, while July and August are livelier but hotter.
How to get there
Plomari is roughly a 35–40-minute drive from Mytilene along the southern coast road; once you reach the town, emBEERies is easy to find near the harbour.

If you stay at irini suites this bistro co-op with the hotel and deliver there. Good service and great food ;) We had the club sandwich and it was a hit. The fresh vegetables, crispy bread (not too crispy), and the fries was amazing. The bacon was well prepared and the sauce was delicious. I recommend this dish 😉 Give it a go lads

I tried to order for 10 minutes, the waiters couldn't look at me because they were playing on their phones. I ordered an orange juice and a Greek omelette. Even though there were very few customers and no orders, it took more then 25 minutes to prepare an omelette. The service is very slow, I do not recommend it.

I ordered an "Eggs Benedict" which comes with smoked salmon instead of ham. The egg was supposed to be poached but it was like a hardboiled egg. Although I asked for it to be done well, I didn't expect it to be boiled. Chef obviously doesn't know how to poach an egg well. They allow smoking indoors and outdoors. This spoils everything. I couldn't finish my meal, so I left early as the smoking is overbearing. Although smoking is officially banned indoors, the waiters simply ignored the rule. Shame because it could have been a far more pleasant experience. Greece is very backward in terms of smoking.
Owner Response
We would like to inform you that we provide a detailed menu with information about all the incidents of every meal. You just didn't read the menu before ordering.
Moreover we are sorry we didn't know that a well done egg is not a boiled egg...
To continue we don't know if you noticed but you were seating outdoors where smoking is allowed...
After you finished your meal and without any complaints before, you got in, asked to pay and wished us to die soon because we didn't meet your standards ... Like a civilised person... It was 9:00 in the morning, and although you were so impolite we stayed calm as we should. Thanks again!
Love this place! Fast service, perfect coffee and this time I wanted to have a quick bite. And thank the Lord I did! I had a Crock Madam to die for. Perfect mating of cheese on a brioche type bun with a surprise egg on top, sitting on a ring of arugula. And an extra bonus: a pretty puppy having sad eyes because we were not sharing...lol. Thank you so much for this, we will be back soon!!

Different local & Greek brews to taste in an artistic, relaxed environment. Though I didn't order a meal, it looked like tasty food on offer. Convenient location by the ferry with WiFi. The bartender was very helpful in offering suggestions for touring the region.

We had a brunch in this cafe. It has a sunny closed terrace, indoors space plus outdoor sitting place which looks very pretty. You can watch the sea while sitting in the cafe and enjoying your coffee. The brunch was nice.
