We had a very nice stay! The location is quiet, but a short distance from the center. The owner, Dora, was very friendly and always available if we needed anything. The apartment is simple but good, and the cleaning is also very good! We enjoyed ourselves :)

About

Nestled in the charming village of Petra on the northwestern coast of Lesvos, Islands Apartments offers visitors a comfortable base from which to explore one of the island's most beloved destinations. Petra is known for its distinctive rock formation crowned by the Church of the Sweet-Kissing Virgin, its long sandy beach, and its relaxed, unhurried atmosphere — and accommodation here puts guests right at the heart of authentic island life rather than in a more commercialized resort setting.

Staying at Islands Apartments means waking up within easy reach of Petra's waterfront tavernas, local cafes, and the gentle Aegean waters. The self-catering format suits independent travelers who want the flexibility to set their own pace — whether that means a late breakfast before heading to the beach, an afternoon drive through the olive groves toward Molyvos or the petrified forest, or an evening stroll along the seafront promenade. The apartments provide the kind of home-away-from-home comfort that allows visitors to truly settle into the rhythm of island life.

The location in Petra makes Islands Apartments particularly well-suited for those looking to explore the north of Lesvos in depth. The medieval castle town of Molyvos is just a short drive away, while the birdwatching wetlands of Kalloni Gulf and the monasteries scattered through the surrounding hills are all within easy reach. For travelers who want to experience Lesvos beyond the postcard highlights — to shop at a local market, eat where the fishermen eat, and watch the sun dip into the Aegean from a quiet terrace — this is an ideal place to call home during their stay.

Before you go

What to expect

Self-catering apartments put you on a genuine village footing — you can pick up breakfast supplies from a local shop, stroll down to Petra's long sandy beach before the crowds arrive, and spend evenings at a waterfront table watching fishing boats come in. The looming rock with its whitewashed church overhead gives the village a quietly dramatic backdrop that you notice every time you step outside.

Best time to visit

May through October for warm weather and swimming; July and August bring more visitors to Petra's beach, so May, June, and September offer the same sunshine with noticeably fewer crowds.

How to get there

Petra is in the north of Lesvos, roughly an hour's drive from Mytilene along the main road that skirts the Kalloni Gulf and continues up toward the northwest coast.

I stayed for one day at the hotel located on the beach in Petrada. The apartment was spacious and clean. However, it is a very old facility and the rooms need renovation.

The apartment was spacious and clean. All amenities were provided, including a hairdryer, air conditioning, clean towels and sheets, toilet paper, soap, and a television. The owner, Dora, is incredibly friendly and helpful. You can ask any questions via WhatsApp and she's always happy to help. She even helped me with the check-out time on the day I was supposed to check out, as it wasn't too busy. Each apartment has its own small balcony or garden. There's parking at the entrance. The owner also owns a car and scooter rental shop. I didn't rent one, but I think they'd be happy to help with that. The location is about a 10-minute walk from the city center. Because it's not in the city center, it has a quiet atmosphere. There's a beach bar right out front, and the sea is clean. If I were to visit Petra again, I'd definitely choose this place.

Petrada offers a lovely accommodation with its own parking area. The rooms are spacious and comfortably accommodate three people. It's a place where you can enjoy the full sunset view from the balcony or the veranda at the entrance. It's clean, quiet, and quite reasonably priced. It's very close to the beaches, the market, and restaurants – you can walk there, but you can also reach it by car or taxi from Mytilene Port.

Big, clean rooms in a perfect location. Our room had a wide double bed, a balcony, bathroom, a private living room, and a kitchen inside. Just infront of the sea with beach clubs and 7-8 minutes walk from the restaurants. Perfect for a quiet and peaceful sea holiday in Petra, surrounded by greenery. The owner Dora is the most helpful, welcoming lady ever. She stays in communication with you throughout the stay. Thanks for everything Dora!!

It has a fantastic location, the owners are a very friendly and kind family, Mrs. Dora and her husband Strati and I have been very good friends for 8 years, we call and talk to each other throughout the year and during every holiday, and I also recommend it to all my friends, everyone who goes leaves very satisfied. I definitely recommend it. 5 stars ✨

An apartment in Petra, very close to the center and the sea. You'll wake up to the sound of poultry and lambs in the morning. The owner is incredibly attentive and friendly. The rooms are a bit dated, but spotlessly clean, and our room was cleaned every day without even asking. I'd say the value for money is excellent. There are many restaurants by the sea nearby. You can enjoy a complimentary meal or drink while enjoying the restaurant's amenities, including sun loungers, umbrellas, fast Wi-Fi, and showers. Isn't it just like the ones in Turkey? :) I definitely recommend this apartment and the area.

The beach is 100 meters from the house, on the right, about 100 meters further on. The air conditioning is good, we had a kettle with us to boil water and make tea, there are cutlery, pots and pans, dishwashing detergent, a stove, and cupboards. In the bathroom, there is liquid soap and toilet paper, but no shampoo. There is also no salt or pepper. We were satisfied.

This hotel should not be missed when visiting Petra. The hotel is built in a vast land full of mature trees and lush greenery with uninterrupted views of the sea but still set back from the main road providing breathtaking panoramic views of the area. Your mornings will be filled with spellbinding views of the blue flat sea accompanied with gentle twitts from local sparrows and swallows, all this whilst you are enjoying your morning breakfast on your private balcony or shared terrace. The evenings are filled with romantic sunsets which turn the sky and sea volcanic red or dark pink Having the option to walk to the beach and walk back to your hotel room all in 5 mins is what I call unbeatable luxury. The hotel owners are also very friendly and helpful. I miss this place, and so will you.
