About

Nestled in Plomari, the sun-drenched coastal town on the southern shore of Lesvos that has earned an international reputation as the ouzo capital of Greece, Maria Plomari Apartments offers a comfortable home base for travelers seeking to immerse themselves in authentic island life. The town itself is a delight to explore, with its tightly packed neoclassical mansions climbing the hillside above a working fishing harbor, the air carrying the faint herbal scent of anise from the local distilleries that have been producing ouzo here for generations. Staying in self-catering apartments in a town like this means enjoying the rhythms of local life — morning coffee at a harborfront kafeneion, fresh catch at the fish tavernas along the waterfront, and long afternoons on the pebbly beaches that fringe the coastline east and west of town.

Maria Plomari Apartments provides the kind of relaxed, independent accommodation that suits visitors who want the freedom to come and go on their own schedule. Apartment-style lodging is well suited to the Plomari experience, where the pleasures are unhurried — touring the Varvayiannis ouzo museum, browsing the small shops tucked into the narrow lanes, or taking a short drive to the serene village of Agios Isidoros just along the coast. The apartments offer a practical and hospitable alternative to hotel stays, giving guests their own space to settle into the slower, more generous pace that defines a true Lesvos holiday.

Before you go

What to expect

Staying here puts you at the center of Plomari's unhurried harbor life — the waterfront is a short walk away, you can pick up fresh fish for dinner at the quayside tavernas, and end the evening with a glass of locally distilled ouzo that carries the faint sweetness of anise. The self-contained apartments give you the flexibility to set your own pace between the kafeneion, the pebbly beaches fringing the coast, and the neoclassical lanes climbing the hillside.

Best time to visit

Late May through September suits Plomari well; May, June, and September offer more comfortable temperatures for exploring on foot, while July and August are lively but very warm.

How to get there

Plomari is roughly 30–40 minutes by car from Mytilene, heading southwest along the southern coast road through olive groves with occasional sea views before the road descends into town.

A great place to stay at. With clean and neat little apartments overlooking the blue Aegean and a welcoming staff, you'll certainly get the worth of your money. The apartments have fully equipped kitchens, small but real clean bathrooms. The landscaping is pleasant with many olive trees and plants flanking the parking lot and the buildings. Simply recommended.

A great place to stay. Beautiful garden and pool, modern spacious rooms and peaceful surroundings. Lovely view from the balcony. Friendly and helpful staff. A really great place I would recommend to everyone. A bit outside Plomari centre and quite a walk to the beach are the only downside we can come up with.

Maria is a little gem on Lesvos. With views of the sea and mountains, and surrounded by beautiful flowers and a Greek atmosphere. Maria also has very nice and helpful staff. We give our best recommendations.

My trip to Plomari was spontaneous. We chose the first best trip! I'm so glad we ended up in Plomari. We had a super nice, fresh and clean hotel with fantastic staff. Everyone was so nice and provided a high level of service. 10 out of 10 Possibility to cook was available. And what a wonderful view. There we ate our delicious fresh breakfast every morning. Drinks were available at the reception, which was open to all guests, just go in and collect and sign up. The hotel was of a high standard, could have been a 4 star and the price nothing to complain about. I really wasn't anything to complain about, just good things to say. It was one of the nicest hotels I have stayed at. We want to come back next year and stay longer.

Best of the best. Location is great. Views are stunning. Service is one of a kind - nothing to compare with hotel like service. Everything is as per your needs and wishes. Very well equipped with everything you need and more. Super clean and all looks like new. Bed sheets, towels, etc, of the best quality and cleaness. The entire property is stunning. Try breakfast in the garden under the olive trees with a stunning view over the sea and Plomari harbor. A definite place to return to.

We stayed with Maria & Yiannis over a year ago & were made to feel at home. We then recommended the apartments to our relatives who stayed a few months back, further raved about their stay. The rooms are clean & fully applianced, with bedroom, kitchenette & bathroom, being well maintained, with any request catered to. Breakfast can also be organised. The site's landscaping of stonework & grass around the pool is more than well designed & so inviting for a social BBQ amongst the guests or a quiet lounge. All rooms have brilliant, high views of Plomari town, which brings the only negative. A small climb of about 60 steps, or rental car, insurance risking hairpins of the villiage lanes, are required to assent to the apartments & free parking. Recommended.
