About
Molyvos Queen Apartments offers self-catering holiday accommodation in one of the most celebrated villages on Lesvos. Molyvos — known in antiquity as Mythimna — is a UNESCO-recognized settlement of Ottoman-era stone houses cascading down a hillside beneath a medieval Byzantine castle, with sweeping views across the Aegean toward the Turkish coast. Staying here puts visitors at the heart of a living, historic village rather than a resort strip, with the harbor, tavernas, and winding cobblestone lanes all within easy reach on foot.
For travelers seeking flexibility and independence, a self-contained apartment is an ideal base for exploring northern Lesvos. Guests can set their own pace — morning coffee on a private terrace, afternoons at the pebble beach below the castle, evening meals at the waterfront fish restaurants — without the constraints of hotel schedules. The Molyvos area is well-placed for day trips to the petrified forest near Sigri, the thermal springs at Eftalou just a few kilometers along the coast, and the traditional villages of the island's interior. Molyvos Queen Apartments gives visitors a comfortable, home-like retreat in one of the island's most photogenic and historically rich corners.
Before you go
What to expect
Staying in a self-catering apartment in Molyvos means waking up inside a living village rather than a resort — the Byzantine castle rises above the rooftops, cats wind through cobblestone alleys, and the harbour smell drifts up by evening. Having your own kitchen and terrace lets you set the pace entirely: a slow breakfast before the morning crowds, an afternoon swim at the pebble beach below the castle walls, then dinner at the waterfront. The thermal springs at Eftalou are only a few kilometres along the coast, making it a practical base as well as a scenic one.
Best time to visit
May through October suits most visitors; July and August are warmest for swimming but bring more foot traffic through the village lanes.
How to get there
From Mytilene, head north through Kalloni and continue toward the coast; the drive takes roughly an hour, with the castle visible above the village as you arrive.

The room and property at this place were charming, with a cozy, lived-in feel that reflected its age and a stunning balcony view that made every moment special. The place was clean, though not pristine, and its older character added to its appeal. The surrounding area added to the charm, with a delightful restaurant and bakery nearby, perfect for enjoying local flavors. Molyvos itself is a beautiful place that absolutely needs to be checked out, offering a picturesque and vibrant atmosphere. However, there were a few minor issues that could use some attention. The toilet door lock was faulty and kept slipping open, the showerhead mount on the wall was broken, and the main door was old with a noticeable gap underneath, which allowed noise from the neighbors to travel through. Despite these small hiccups, the overall experience was enjoyable, and I found the stay to be well worth it. I’d recommend it,

Take me back! Arrival: We are a family of six and rented two apartments at the top of Molyvos. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed by the owner, George, and his lovely staff member, Marie. That kind of greeting—with a handshake, a smile wider than the Mytilini Strait, and clear, helpful information about the facilities and surroundings—set the tone for a fantastic holiday. All the other guests received the same treatment, which created a sense of community and made the stay even more enjoyable. Facilities: Although officially rated as a 2-star hotel due to the local tourist tax, the atmosphere and service far exceed that. The apartments we stayed in had very firm beds, but we learned that other units had newer, more comfortable mattresses. The kitchen setup is minimal, clearly designed for guests who prefer to dine out, with limited cookware and a small stovetop. Still, it worked perfectly for preparing breakfast and light meals, which we enjoyed on the sunny terraces. Given the hot summer nights, the air conditioning was a welcome feature. We brought four kids who love swimming, but we were actually glad the hotel didn’t have a pool—it made for a much more peaceful and relaxing atmosphere. Plus, we had free access to a nearby hotel’s pool just a couple of kilometers away. Location: I would say the location is nearly perfect—this is the last house at the top of Molyvos, away from the restaurant noise, yet only a five-minute walk from the town’s vibrant center. From up here, you get stunning views and can enjoy the sunset in the gentle offshore breeze.

A small family business with beautiful apartments with everything you will need. Nice style and view at the village and the sea straight, and a flowery garden. The apartments have an air conditioning unit, TV, WiFi, small kitchen with appliances, shower, extra small locker and sofa. Not for people with walking problems as it is at the higher side of the village and one must be prepared to climb a few stone steps or cobblestone alleys. Alternatively one will need to drive around the ring road that runs above the village. But the cobblestone alleys are a generic characteristic of the Molivos village in general and not a problem or issue of the specific small hotel.

Stayed 4 nights. The apartments are good. Mine was large, 2 balconies, overlooking sea and fortress. There are a few shortcuts, but if you ask the owner Giorgios, he rectifies it. Reasonable given the cost. Also they don’t function on email and there are no card facilities (I paid by bank transfer). I would recommend.
