New hotel with 90 rooms. Very helpful staff. When they made us wait during check-in due to some technical issues they send a complimentary white wine to our room. Later they upgraded us to a suit due to a problem at the bathroom. Good breakfast and very nice beach.

About

Nestled along the quieter northern shores of Lesvos near the small settlement of Agrilia Kratigou, the Mythical Coast Wellness Retreat offers a restorative escape in one of the Aegean's most serene and least-touristed corners. The retreat takes its name from the island's deep roots in ancient myth — Lesvos was the legendary birthplace of the lyric poet Sappho and has long been associated with beauty, the arts, and the healing rhythms of sea and land. Here, far from the bustle of the main resort towns, guests are invited to slow down and reconnect with themselves against a backdrop of olive groves, volcanic coastline, and the glittering blue of the Eastern Aegean.

The retreat is oriented around holistic wellbeing, drawing on the natural gifts of its setting: the clean sea air, the therapeutic warmth of the Greek sun, and the profound quiet that defines this part of the island. Visitors can expect a curated range of wellness offerings designed to rejuvenate both body and mind, whether through yoga and meditation sessions, body treatments, or simply the unhurried pace of life that Lesvos naturally encourages. The surrounding landscape, shaped by ancient volcanic activity and centuries of traditional farming, provides an extraordinary natural environment for walking, reflection, and genuine rest.

For travellers who have come to Lesvos seeking more than sightseeing — those drawn to the island's contemplative atmosphere and raw natural beauty — Mythical Coast Wellness Retreat represents a meaningful base. It sits within reach of the island's thermal springs at Polichnitos and Lisvori, the petrified forest of Sigri, and the birdwatching wetlands of the Gulf of Kalloni, making it as much a gateway to Lesvos's extraordinary landscape as it is a destination in its own right.

Before you go

What to expect

The stillness here is the first thing you notice — volcanic coastline on one side, ancient olive groves on the other, and very few other guests to break the quiet. Yoga sessions and body treatments give the days their shape, but the real offering is the pace: unhurried, restorative, rooted in the particular calm of the eastern Aegean. It suits travellers who want to genuinely slow down rather than tick off sights.

Best time to visit

May through June and September through October bring warm, settled days without the intensity of high summer — the most comfortable season for outdoor wellness.

How to get there

Agrilia Kratigou lies roughly 10 kilometres from Mytilene; follow the northern coastal road out of the city and allow extra time for the winding island roads.

We didn't stay at the Hotel but went for the Sunday brunch buffet... It was a waste of €15 per person.... Although the buffet is open till 14:30, the bain maries where extinguished from 12:40, the result that the eggs, bacon and all the hot plates were freezing cold... Also the buffet was empty and wasn't refilled e.g mushrooms was empty.... Unacceptable for a Hotel of that standard....

I do not understand how this hotel is classified as a five-star hotel. Our accommodation was awful. Initially, the staff claimed that our room had been upgraded to a sea-view room (in mid-January). However, the room was very cold, the air conditioning was no working, and, most importantly, water from the toilet was leaking onto the floor after every use. We reported all these issues to the staff, and they moved us to another room, but unfortunately, the same toilet problem occurred there as well. The breakfast was also very poor, and it was obvious that the same food was being reused from previous days. Finally, the hotel advertises a "spa center" that is supposedly open until 9:00 p.m. We went there at 7:00 p.m., but on that day it had suddenly closed at 5:00 p.m. Instead, we were told we could use a very small pool (approximately 5x5 meters), with water claimed to be 28°C. In reality, the water temperature was no more than 20°C. Overall, our experience was extremely disappointing and far from what one would expect from a five-star hotel.

Owner Response

Dear Mrs Pegiadou, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We would like to note that as soon as you informed us of the technical issues in your initial room, our team reacted instantly :we provided an immediate upgrade from a Premium room to a Suite to ensure your comfort. Furthermore, during the room change, you personally verified the proper functioning of the heating and facilities in your new suite along with our staff, expressing your satisfaction and thanks at that time. Regarding the spa, the early change in operating hours was due to a scheduled event in the pool area. As for the water temperature ,we assure you that it is digitally monitored and remains stable at 28 degrees ,in full compliance with our quality standards. Finally, during low season ,our breakfast buffet is adjusted according to occupancy levels, while always maintaining high-quality ingredients and adhering to strict hygiene protocols.
We remain at your disposal.
Kind Regards,
Mythical Coast Wellness Retreat Team

I had a very satisfactory stay at this hotel. The room was spacious, featuring a large bathroom and a stunning sea view. I was able to relax during my two-day stay, and I can confidently say that this is one of the best hotels on the island, if not the best. On every occasion that I return to Mytilene, I opt to stay here. The breakfast menu is well-varied and of a high standard, and the dinner menu also offers a selection of tasty, healthy and well-prepared dishes. The beach in front of the hotel is tranquil and picturesque, and the pool is very pleasant, making it an ideal location for relaxation. The transfer from the airport was efficient and timely, which enhanced the overall convenience of the experience. The staff exhibited exceptional friendliness and attentiveness, consistently demonstrating a readiness to assist. The hotel's ambiance exudes tranquility and comfort, making it an ideal destination for guests seeking complete relaxation. I would unreservedly recommend this hotel. In my opinion, it is a true oasis of perfection. Thanks for everything!

Title: Disappointing Experience at a So-Called 5-Star Hotel Review: I had high expectations for my stay at this hotel, having booked nearly a year in advance for a wedding on the island. Initially, communication leading up to my visit was prompt and professional, which set a positive tone. Unfortunately, my experience during my stay fell far short of the 5-star service I had anticipated. Customer Service and Communication: The check-in process was where my concerns began. I had previously arranged via email for a personal driver to take me to several points of interest. However, when I arrived, the staff member checking me in seemed reluctant to help, despite having received clear instructions in our email correspondence. After a delay, the request was finally handled, but only after I had to follow up multiple times. This lack of attention to detail and communication from the staff was disappointing, especially in a luxury hotel setting. Room Condition: The room itself was clean, but incredibly basic for a 5-star property. There were only 4 hangers provided, and despite requesting more, I received just 3 additional ones. The safe in the room was faulty, requiring multiple visits from maintenance to fix it, which was both time-consuming and frustrating. Additionally, the TV remote didn’t work and needed to be fixed as well. A hotel of this calibre should ensure that everything is in working order before guests arrive, rather than creating inconvenience after the fact. Facilities and Service: Another area of concern was the pool towels. On several occasions, the towel basket by the pool was empty, and when I asked the Pool Bar staff for assistance, I was told to go to reception to collect towels. This was inconvenient, especially considering the expectation of service at a 5-star property. When I voiced my frustration at reception, the staff member finally agreed to have the towels sent to the pool, but only after I had made my concerns known. This lack of proactive service was disappointing. Breakfast and Dining: The breakfast offered a decent variety, but the quality was average at best. The food did not meet the high standards one would expect from a hotel of this calibre. Sadly, this trend of mediocrity extended to all dining options. Remote Location: The hotel’s location is quite remote, with no nearby conveniences such as stores or additional dining options. Should you need something like a convenience store or to visit another restaurant, you’ll need to take a taxi and travel at least 15 minutes. This lack of nearby amenities further limits the overall experience. Conclusion: While the hotel is clean and the staff did eventually address some of my concerns, the overall experience did not live up to the 5-star rating I was expecting. A luxury hotel should provide seamless service, attention to detail, and a level of comfort that was noticeably missing during my stay. I would recommend that the management focus on improving communication, ensuring that maintenance issues are resolved before check-in, and enhancing the quality of dining options. Given the price point and the reputation of this hotel, I expected much more.

Nowhere near 5 Star Quality! The booking process for a 5 night stay in July 2025 was flawless — responsive, efficient, and friendly — which made what followed all the more disappointing. From the moment we arrived, service fell flat. The quality of food was poor, and even dessert was a letdown. Out of the four dessert options on the menu, I was told by the staff to avoid two because they would “take too long.” I settled for profiteroles with chocolate and was served stale, empty pastry shells topped with chocolate fudge and a scoop of ice cream — no profiterole filling at all. Entree and main dishes were not cleared by staff before serving dessert . Buffet breakfast food sub standard , left uncovered, and sitting in non-functioning warmers — a couple in our extended travel group ended up with food poisoning.. When my son got sick, staff told us the doctor “doesn’t make house calls on Saturdays” and we’d have to wait until Sunday for a doctor to see him. We went into town to get medication from a pharmacy, only to find on a return that medical centre was open on Saturday. You’d expect better local knowledge and support from a supposedly 5-star resort. The safety deposit box in my room didn’t work. Staff handed me a key because the batteries to the safe were flat , but it was useless — the entire box could be picked up and carried away. No one attempted to repair or secure it. Only 3 clothes hangers made available for two people staying in the room. I requested an iron and was given one without an ironing board. When I questioned this, I was told, “We don’t have one.” Only after I became visibly frustrated — needing to prepare clothes for a wedding — did an ironing board suddenly appear. Cleanliness was poor. . The toilet had a “disinfected” tag, but there was a hair on the seat and more on the floor. Not a great experience when that is the first thing you see entering your bathroom. The overall cleanliness of the room was simply sub standard. Room would be cleaned after 6pm at times and on one occasion the cleaner opted to not clean. Checkout was the final frustration. Staff were disorganised and presented me with expense receipts that were either unsigned,, or belonged to someone else. With my taxi waiting for over 10 minutes, they still couldn’t sort it out. I eventually had to leave to avoid missing my flight, settling the bill online afterwards. What began as a promising booking turned into one of the most disappointing stays I’ve experienced.

Overall: A decent and new hotel if you adjust your expectations and don’t take the 5-star label too literally. Best enjoyed if you have a rental car and plan to explore the area, while using the hotel mainly for sleep and breakfast base. 5 mins from airport and 10 mins drive from Mitilini. Let's go into details: This hotel has 5 stars, but by EU standards I would rate it more like a solid 3★S or a mediocre 4★. I’ve stayed here multiple times, so I’ll try to be objective. The positives: The structure is new and the ambiance of the main building is really nice. Most of the more experienced staff members are professional and do their best to help. Breakfast is quite good compared to the overall food quality. Good value for money if you mainly use it as a base for sleeping and breakfast. The AC in rooms are very good and beds are comfortable. Pool area is nice and clean, towels provided. The negatives: Housekeeping is consistently below standard: beds made in a rush, mopped floors without vacuuming or dusting, hair left in the bathroom even after several days, and often only one small shampoo left for two guests. Seems understaffed as sometimes the rooms gets cleaned around 5PM Many seasonal/young staff members lack training in proper service, which is noticeable for a “5-star” property. Restaurant food is average unfortonately, not what you would expect from a 5-star. Check tavernas around to eat authentic Greek food. Indoor thermal pool requires an extra payment but I can’t comment further on the since I didn’t use it. The sea/beach area in front of the hotel is basic: you can swim with towels provided, but much better beaches are only a 20–30 min drive away.

The location is bad. Also, the hotel is in blocks and you have to climb a ramp to get to your room. It's difficult with your luggage. There was an ant colony in the room. The only good thing was the view of the hotel. Breakfast was week ans not delicious.

New, clean, and spacious rooms. AC is perfect. Works well and is quiet. Very nice pool area with pool bar. The view from the lobby, front outdoor space and dining hall is amazing! We spent our nights just listening to the waves. It has a beach area with loungers but those who went said it was rocky. The breakfast buffet was very good! I took spa services and the lady was excellent! Very relaxing stay. I suggest renting a car to get around which you can do at the hotel lobby because it's about 20 min drive to center of Mytilini town. Taxi costs 15 to 17 euros each way. Car rental was 70 euros when I asked end of July. There is a bus that passes maybe 3 or 4 times a day. Mytilini is a large island. It takes about 1 to 2 hours drive to get to other side to visit the quaint traditional villages, beaches, and tavernas. The food at the restaurant was also very good. I would come back to this hotel.

The hotel staff were great and helpful, We loved the location out of the city. There is no real beach close to the hotel, The rooms were very spartan with verry by limited amenities. The room veranda was neglected and not maintained at all. It is nice hotel but definitely not a 5 stars hotel maybe 3. Breakfast was very good but very boring. No creativity or changes from day to day. The pool is nice and clean but small. Overall a nice place to stay if your expectations are not to high.
